Super Friendly stuff

Fantastic to come back to Jinja and see everything and everyone come back to life post-pandemic! I passed by Basecamp twice last week. One afternoon I dropped by for a chat and a snack: home made tortilla chips plus hummus and guacamole dips ? I stayed one night in one of the Safari tents. Each has two single beds and was warm and comfy. It's a tight squeeze! The bathroom / shower is a shared affair in the main living area. Note: some of the rooming options changed during the pandemic but it remains an extremely good value for money option for budget travelers. Thank you to the super friendly staff. Had a great welcome. I particularly appreciated being shown my tent during one of Jinja's occasional power outages. (Guests are provided with rechargeable lamps) and the compound has good security. The camp seemed to be a hive of activity. A big group of volunteers had arrived from Europe on the day I stayed. It's wonderful to be traveling again!

I went with friends and Tulina was my choice. We were not disappointed. Actually, one of my friends later confessed that she didn't want to leave. Lawrence and the rest of the staff were very welcoming, they took real good care of us. The breakfast was nice and not to forget the campfire and music. We will definitely go back.

Bellevue Hotel

Potencially good but not well run

Reviewed By Xavi88

Excellent location hotel with good looking façade but not well-mantained inside. The rooms are clean. However, the equipments are abandoned. The worst of all is the lack of interest of the owners. I needed to change room twice and the management was inefficient and not helpful. I had the feeling that clients disturb them. You definitely get better deals in Jinja.

HELL ON EARTH!!! Don’t bother!!

Reviewed By ronkye811

I don’t even know where to begin!! They started off by cancelling my booking a day before check in (claiming the place was booked out although Agoda let me book it a week in advance!!), then asked me rebook and pay through their own website which I found suspicious.. (am guessing they didn’t want to pay Agoda their booking fee). On arrival at 7pm!! I had to wait another hour and half at reception (which lacked a proper stocked bar and the drinks were warm!!! ) because my room was not ready ( yet check in was slated for 12pm!!) I was finally ushered to a tiny and dated room, the mattress was just bent in!! I had to change my first room as it had some sort of insect which I was not sure wether a mosquito or tick!! The service at reception sucked and asking for anything took forever to be granted.. Changed to another “cottage” which had a smaller bed, but at least created an impression of more room to manoeuvre with my bags and stuff in there. The pics on line don’t reflect what they have at all, and if I was not tricked into paying for the 3 day stay in advance, I would have left the next day.. but was stuck coz they had taken my payment. On the second day my room run out of toilet paper and it took an hour for them to replace it even though the place was clearly empty with only two other occupants!! On the third day of check out they were quick to let me know how I had to leave by 11. I told them I will leave when ready and that on my arrival I was meant to wait almost 2 hours, so it was only fair they let me stay extra time free of charge too.. When I was finally ready to leave(1pm) I could not locate anyone at reception to check me out.. eventually the nightmare of a receptionist / chef/ bar girl “REBECCA” showed up after 20’minutes of sitting around and waiting for her. She then proceeded to demand for shs 20,000 as late check out fee.. I reminded her I had to wait on them during check in and also for everything (water, ice that never showed up and also warm soda’s!!) and that it was only fair/ courteous she let it slide.. But she was adamant and instructed the gate man to block my exit!! I eventually paid the shs 20,000 but she still took about 30 minutes to locate my bill and hand over my receipt coz she claimed she had not received my booking fee.. ??‍♂️??‍♂️ I eventually told her I needed to leave so she needs to make a hand written receipt for me coz I was running out of time to drive back to kampala.. All in all this is the worst hotel I have ever had to pay for, worst service, dated place, no wi-fi as advertised and not even a free bottle of water!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT THEY STAY OPEN UNTILL THE WHOLE PLACE HAS BEEN OVERHAULED.. I will give it one star for the greenery and the fact that it actually exists !! DO NOT GO THERE!!
