Need to prebook but its worth it . The lovely garden area at the rear provides a lovely atmosphere for the great food. The veggie dip plus the lovely homemade bread to their own recipe was very welcome precursor to the fish main course and superb desert. If in SM you must eat here! Its hidden away in the back streets but worth tracking it down. Recommended.Hidden away in the back streets? DuCoq is the center of the world!Thank you for your beautiful review, we are proud you ate here twice during your holiday! Above all you appreciated our dessert, we are still working on it to surprise our best clients... What are you waiting for? Come back soon!

We enjoyed apertivo at this bar overlooking the sea on 3 of the 4 nights we were in Camogli. The view was stunning, the staff all super friendly and the Negronis and snacks the best we had in 6 weeks in Italy. Highly recommended

Ristorante Porto Prego

Reviewed By Alan F

Liguria is a very traditional place. That often makes for classical dishes prepared rigidly according to local history and lore. It can be very satisfying, of fine quality, usually predictable and sometimes a bit boring. It takes considerable skill, imagination and some guts to try mixing some non-traditional ingredients and seasonings successfully to create something new and intriguing. That is what we found at Porto Prego. Our Sunday lunch here was delightful, accompanied by some fine artisan breads, a splendid Pigato from Ranzo and some lovely and lyrical jazz piano tapes in the background. We really have gotten annoyed at some restaurants that just turn on a local radio station in the background. The restaurant is stylish without being ornate. The service is low key but attentive and kind. Some might find the prices a bit high, but we thought them fair for the culinary talent and variety. While the combinations and colors in our first and second courses were thoughtful and pleasing, I would have preferred just a little bit less salt in my risotto.Camogli is one of our favorite towns in Liguria. When we return, Porto Prego will most definitely be again on our itinerary.

We were staying at the Grand Bristol hotel in Rapallo end of September 2016 and the weather was excellent so walking about we passed the Villa twice a day for 4 days before we worked out how to get to it as their signage was a bit lacking - but eventually went into the communal park and found the entrance gate! So glad we did. It is an oasis of calm away from the bustle and traffic of downtown Rapallo and simply stunning views from the terrace. Very romantic and nicely furnished.Had dinner and then came back for our last holiday lunch. Both times the service was attentive and the food excellent. Enjoyed the risotto with strawberries and the sea bass baked in salt - well cooked and not overdone as sadly it can be.Overall it is a cut above any other restaurant in Rapallo and we would thoroughly recommend seeking it out if you are staying in or near Rapallo.

Ristorante Da Paolo

Reviewed By andybristol12555

While walking in Italy we had encountered some mushroom hunters from the Camogli area who had recommended Da Paolo as a really good fish restaurant in the town, we had booked a table and found the welcome, food and ambience of the restaurant excellent. When I booked I had been offered an outside table (with the proviso that we could move inside if the weather proved to be a problem). In the event the evening was relatively balmy, and we sat outside. For a first course we had a seafood platter starter shared between four of us and that proved the correct volume, with this then followed by a large John Dory shared between the four of us. All of this was washed down by a couple of bottles of a local white wine (recommended by the waiter) which proved to be a perfect accompaniment. Da Paolo is a good restaurant, with good simple and unpretentious but fresh offerings and a friendly atmospheric ambience.

Il Doge

Reviewed By Theresa M

From the start I had a feeling this might be disappointing. Not even sure where to begin. The “attitude” of the waiters was not to be believed. I was ordering a drink and in the middle of explaining what I wanted, the waiter interrupted me and said “yeah, yeah...” that he knew what I wanted. He brought a drink stuffed with mint leaves and no ice (I asked for ‘lots of ice’ and a simple twist of lemon), but I didn’t say anything. It took me 10 minutes to get someone’s attention to ask for a glass of ice. Finally, I just got up and asked. They brought an ice bucket of ice. They loaded up our table with stale chips and crackers and then proceeded to just leave them there after twice saying we were “all set”. My husband ordered a half bottle of red wine and had to ask for it twice. I ordered a bottle of white wine (we assumed we could take the unused wine with us) and the waiter came over and tried to pour more wine into a glass that was already full with wine and when I said it was “ok” and not to pour more, he jammed the wine back into the ice and stormed off. They brought my husband’s appetizer (muscles) at the same time they brought his dinner (lamb which was ordered “rare”) and my appetizer. When we explained we didn’t want his entree at the same time as his appetizer, the waiter took the dinner away and said “We’ll, it’s not my fault”. Then when they brought my dinner and I asked them to take it back because it would be cold by the time they brought back my husband’s. When they finally brought his dinner, the lamb was well done. It just got worse and after more rudeness and ridiculously bad service we got up and left, with never eating dinner. My husband spoke to the main waiter and explained why we were leaving. They seemed surprised. Such a disappointing evening. We have been planning this vactation for 9 months and have had these dinner reservations since the summer.

Couldn't dine here on our first day as we hadn't made a reservation, snagged one for the next day in a little nook they have down a few steps closer to the beach where they have set up 4 tables. Service was great and the food was good as well. Make sure you get a table outside, the nook can be a bit sunny but once the sun goes down its really pleasant.

Ristorante Mille e Una Notte

I have been at Mille e una Notte several times, always in summer, enjoyed the marvellous terrace and incredible view and had always simple and excellent food.I tried it again in autumn, and ate inside.Very disappointing. The table was below a loudspeaker with pop/radio style music. Too loud.Table was too near a service room (not the kitchen but kind of a storage room). The service was at the real minumum, guess there was just one cook and one person at the tables.Food was below standard, an overcooked fish, and the appetizers were all of average quality.I don't know if they either changed management or they size the place down for the cold season. And from the windows, because of the bad inside illumination, the view was not existing.Guess that the magic of the place is only in the terrace and the view, and most probably they improve the quality of food and of the service in summer. Not recommended, maybe to be tried only in full summer.

We be waited to post this review until I’d calmed down and will ultimately explain. We chose this restaurant due to decent reviews on Trip Advisor and entered (following a reservation) an empty restaurant early one evening last week. The lady who served us was very pleasant and speaks English well so we could discuss the menu in detail. The food was fairly good, my wife and I swapped first courses as I wasn’t keen on the borage tagliatelle served with the vongole and she wasn’t keen on the gnocchi. If truth be told they were both just ok but I’m not sure why you’d change the winning formula of spaghetti vongole, maybe it’s a local thing.?We had the special for main, a decent sized piece of barone (bass) which was served with a few roasted potatoes. I liked it but my wife didn’t like the texture and I understood that as it had a “sous vide” consistency and indeed I would have preferred it hard fried or roasted for a crisper edge with a soft inside but I guess that’s just our predilection. After we’d finished our meal we were asked whether we’d like dessert so we had a cursory glance at the menu but explained that we had a train back to Rapallo to catch in 15 minutes (we were told it was only 5 minutes away) and that the next one was an hour later so we’d like the bill. It came in 5 minutes but I was ignored when I showed my credit card immediately and she started serving other tables. I didn’t expect her to drop everything but taking my money so we could catch my train would’ve taken less than a minute. We were checking our watches but were consistently ignored so we scraped together the €100 euros in cash that we didn’t think we had and handed it straight to her and left as quickly as we could. You can probably guess that we missed our train (by two minutes) and had to hang around for another hour - we were furious, it could so easily have been avoided but for some strange reason she wouldn’t come over. Well I had to knock a mark off for that, had I written this the next day it would’ve been two marks. The food we ate - which is all I can speak of - was ok to fine, the restaurant is pretty and we had a good glass of wine as recommended.
