Hong Kong Resorts | Places to Stay in Hong Kong

May 4, 2023 Myesha Cogley

Hong Kong is one of the most exciting and diverse cities in Asia. Central to Hong Kong’s uniqueness is the blend of Chinese culture and British Colonial influences, which is apparent when exploring the various districts. Given how beautifully preserved its history is, Hong Kong is one of the best destinations for urban exploration. Beyond the concrete jungle, Hong Kong offers country parks and white sand beaches – it’s a city where anything is truly possible.

Wedding anniversary celebration

Reviewed By El2022abcde

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with our family at the Gateway Marco Polo Hotel. We were impressed with the high level of service and thoughtfulness throughout our stay. Tiffany at reception was very efficient & helpful when we checked in and checked out so the process was easy & seamless. We were even upgraded to a spacious suite. Lok Lung, the chief concierge was welcoming & friendly. When we arrived he gave our young daughter some lovely surprise gifts that she enjoyed playing with on the whole trip. When we arrived in the room he had organised a lovely welcome & congratulations letter for the whole family including sweets/chocolates. We had booked the culinary experience package which was well worth it. In addition we also had the Continental Club Lounge access so it included afternoon refreshments & evening cocktails. We were definitely pleasantly surprised with the wide selection & quality of food offered. Overall we were definitely impressed with the hotel and they made our wedding anniversary celebration very memorable.

Reservation’s Customer Service was Horrible!

Reviewed By poonster4

Had a TERRIBLE experience with their reservation manager, Karman. She was sarcastic and rude!! Is this suppose to be a 4 star hotel??? Everyone knows that a good quality hotel is all about the SERVICE! And this so called manager has perhaps forgotten All About manners and HOSPITALITY! I wanted to get a clear understanding for my reservation and her response and the tone that she used was so rude & sarcastic! She didn’t have the patience to answer my questions and just wanted to end the call as quickly as possible! This hotel should ensure that All levels of employees are properly trained in Hospitality!

Birthday Breakfast @ Harvest Restaurant

Reviewed By JoseAN1167

This is just a quick one for Harvest Restaurant, where me & fam had my birthday breakfast. We actually usually come for breakfast on alternate weeks, either as fam or me & wife or kids with their mom Foods served are basic, full buffet, a mix of asian/western..theres fresh cut fruits, salad bar..nothing too fancy or extravagant but definitely make you full in the end. You get a nice view, overlooking Tsing Ma bridge. Lots of seats, high ceiling & spacing between tables are comfortable, especially in regards to social distancing...feel free to take a walk down the beach afterwards to burn off calories or just enjoy the waves rolling in... Depending on hotel occupancy &or time you come, the restaurant can be a nice/quiet place to have a meal. Service is efficient. Special mention to Angel (at reception) & Ching (on floor)...both are very nice & friendly each time we are there..”Ladies, thank you for always for your assistance & making us feel welcomed, like family..” Harvest is a nice place to start the morning, when you dont want to cook your own breakfast but still want to feel at home as you enjoy the most important meal of the day!

Unreasonable & Rude. Refuses paid, on time, polite customer checking in. Sends customer home.

Reviewed By jwcmwcm

DO NOT BOOK. Horrible, unreasonable hotel. Would’ve given zero if I could. Refused to serve customer for no reason. Tells booked, paid, on time customer to just go away and leave because they apparently cannot check you in if you were “one person” (which was clearly stated in booking). They don’t care. My mother booked herself a room in advance (for 3 nights) for a long needed solo retreat. She booked via booking.com, and paid through the platform in advance. The confirmation clearly states (as seen in attachment), it was for one person. Hotel staff just didn’t care how she took the ferry all the way from Central, booked and paid, looked forward to it for weeks… THEY DIDN’T CARE. She paid for the room, she booked it saying it’s for one person, they just made her go home. NOBODY answers the phone. People in this city don’t get days off easily. Our free time is precious. They had no regard for what it would mean to their customer. They just kept stating their “policy” and insisting on my mother to just go home. Traumatic for her, and everyone who knew about this. Run.

Lychee Sunset Hotel Cheung Chau BnB

Reviewed By 342gerryf

The Lychee is linked to the bnb, you check in at the bnb but the hotel is 200m away. There is nobody on duty at the hotel. It was clean and tidy. Location is good as it is central but not on a noisy street. As you expect the rooms are small (tiny, 2m x 5m including a shower/toilet). Kettle and fridge in room. But: There is no place to sit except on the bed. Rooms 1-6 are on a lower level with little or no natural light. There is no lobby or seating area. Shower leaks so there is a damp smell in room. There is a roof terrace which could be great but there are only hard benches and little shade. Weekend price is very high. Breakfast served in the Edeberg restaurant is nice, staff friendly there. Cheung Chau is lovely, a bit rough at the edges but great walks (north pavilion walk is a must, with beach at the foot). The Lychee could be great if they worked on the comforts. Look for a room on higher level facing the sea.
