Gorizia [ɡoˈrittsja] listen (help·info) (Slovene: Gorica, colloquially stara Gorica 'old Gorizia', German: Görz, Friulian: Guriza) is a town and comune in northeastern Italy, in the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is located at the foot of the Julian Alps, bordering Slovenia. It is the capital of the Province of Gorizia and a local center of tourism, industry, and commerce. Since 1947, a twin town of Nova Gorica has developed on the other side of the modern-day Italian–Slovenian border. The entire region was subject to territorial dispute between Italy and Yugoslavia after World War II: after the new boundaries were established in 1947 and the old town was left to Italy, Nova Gorica was built on the Yugoslav side. Taken together, the two towns constitute a conurbation, which also includes the Slovenian municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba. Since May 2011, these three towns are joined in a common trans-border metropolitan zone, administered by a joint administration board.

A busy restaurant in Gorizia. We had no Reservations, but got a table immediately. Many were large family groups and friends. Busy Waitstaff, sometimes tough to get attention.. but they are nice without attitude.
The food portions are laaarge.. I mean xtra-large. 2 people can easily share a dish. I had a tagliatelle with goulash style sauce. Quite delicious, but again a large portion. My partner had a cream based sauce with speck. Delicious again.
Reasonably priced. An enjoyable dinner.

We had an amazing evening at Alla Luna. The food is quirky as is the setting and staff. It is not a quick eat so you need to sit back, relax and take your time but it is worth the wait. The portions are small but great quality and reasonably priced so would recommend having a few courses.

The food is good, but considering other reviews I expected a more elaborated set of dishes. We got a 7 course menu, starting with a set of amuse bouches with very raw and straight forward tastes. The second course was a set of raw fish, even though the tastes were rather boring. Next was a kind of consommé or fish soup with some scallops, which was a tasty dish. The chef then prepared a combination of mashed potatoes with truffles and egg yolk, which was a really well executed dish, but nothing really new. We continued with a risotto with shrimp and ended with some tuna and lemon mashed potatoes. Before the dessert we got some sorbet which cleansed the mouth really well. The dessert was a combination of panettone, creme anglaise and crumble.
The wine list is ok, even though I didn't get the feeling that the chef was able to recommend the appropriate wine to his dishes. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. I missed more feedback from the chef, who could use a little more imagination. The biggest drawback was definitely the price. There were 4 of us. Each of us had a 7 course menu, we started with a glass of sparkling wine and had two bottles of wine (both from 2014, if I remember well) and the final price was around 280 euros, which in my opinion was just too much for the food we ate and the wine we drank. I would definitely recommend the chef to to get out of his comfort zone and deliver bolder combinations, especially if he wants to charge that amount of money.

positive TA reports are correct, and corroborated by 'local knowledge'; it's a pleasant restaurant - quite spacious - with friendly and attentive service, a diverse menu and good food, including tasty regional specialities. Decidedly better than Alla Luna, which for some reason is rated rather higher.

International dishes? Italian cousine? Meet or fish, raw or cooked both? Cheap or expensive? Tell me wat you need and...Hendrick's will be my answer.
I enjoyed it a lot of time.
It is a tipical place, where a standard menu shouln't be tried. Always taste good well served, from tartare of beef (PERFECT) to Club Sandwich or Parmiggiana of brinjal (fabulose) till spaghetti as well are made and cooked perfect.
Don't forget to try raw fish, but please don't call it "sushi".
You can cook fillet by yourself as well for second dish for example, but many other plates must be discovered when you will get Hendrick's.
About atmosphere and furniture Hendrick's its a good mix between anciant and modern.

Despite the fact that we have a table booked, we waited for about 20 min and didnt even get the menu. So my husband stood up and went to fetch the menu by himself. After 10 min still nobody cared and we had to call the waiter for the order. The pizzas arrived after abput 15 minutes but they were not what we ordered. Other people at nearby tables complained about the waiting time, as well. Apparently there's just one waiter and the cook who work, the others are just watching and not moving a finger. There was also a man who is probably the owner but was not able not even to take an order. In fact, our order was wrong and at the neaerby table he said he ll be back with paper and pen to take the orders, but he never returned. There's also another girl who is useless... she does nothing despite standing at the bar... at 9pm when the waiter couldnt manage the crowd by himself anymore, she brought the menus at a table... that was the only thing she moved for that evening. It's a shame for the restaurant because the pizzas are actually very good, similar to the ones one can have in Naples. I dont think we'll be back.

Ca di Pieri is clearly a local favorite since almost none of our fellow lunch guests looked like tourists or had any of their trappings such as cameras, back backs or guidebooks. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the Waitstaff were all polite and the restrooms were immaculate. Our waitress was able to recommend a number of gluten free options in English including a nice side side of rice with fresh vegetables. We would definitely eat here again.

I am writing here because I can't keep the silence. The host of the place was so nice, that he invited us to come in when we were starving and tired. It was 25 of December, Christmas, about 16:00. Everything was closed, and La Tarantella also shouldn't be open because they have break from 15:00 till 18:00.
But this kind gentleman invited us to join the Christmas branch with his family.
All the family members were so nice with us, they share all the food they have.
The food was simple but tasty like at good Italian home.
Wine was just great!
We had an amazing conversation with host, they told us the long story of their brave family. It were stories about fearless war heroes, famous writers, honest politics and curious travellers.
After the brunch we were trying to pay for food and drink, but the elegant lady, said that we were their guests.
Merry Christmas, dear friends, thank you for your hospitality!
Once we will be back to Goricia, the one of the most hospital city in Italy.

My husband and I have frequented this restaurant over many years and always come away with very full stomachs and the warmest feelings about the people and the place. We have brought Italian friends with us also (from Pordenone and Monfalcone) and although very different in their tastes, all have enjoyed it as much as we have. The food is regional, from locally procured ingredients and prepared with great care and pride. It is delicious food in a splendid environment. Although we love eating at the wonderful and sophisticated restaurants in and around the Collio, this one is my own very favorite and I will go again and again.
