The town is located on the west side of the North-South Expressway stretch of Tapah-Simpang Pulai. We had our late lunch after visiting Ho Yan Hor museum. It’s almost 4 p.m. and seems like they’re closing soon. This restaurant is a classic coffee shop, which like usual has a variety of hawkers. Famous for their ‘Kai See Hor Fun’ (Chicken Kuey Teow Soup). We had two of those, one herbal tea, and one kopi ‘o’. The broth seasoned well, I felt this is a very good food. Their hor fun has nice softness, the portion of the chicken was generous, the shrimp was big enough. Spent total RM 19 that afternoon.

My two cents worth...If you are a tong tau foo fan like me then you will of course want to make a trip here, there's quite a variety to choose from between the fried and not-fried sections. The portions are XXX large...so best to share if you wanna sample everything. What I particularly like is that they serve the fried separately from the soup stuff. I had mine with clear soup...It was rich, savoury and hearty. I tried my friend's curry version and found it good too. Did I mention that its really affordable too.

Tastefully decorated, this busy restaurant offers decent pricing on veggie food. The service was excellent and the people who work there (including the owner, I think) were super friendly. I felt at home for the first time since I've entered the country as a tourist/traveler. Food was good. Nice complementary fish curry soup that my friend enjoyed so much! It was well worth the walk in the dark to find this place.

Visited after Reading the reviews and wasn't disappointed. Cute cafe, ideally located in Ipoh. Really enjoyed the decor, lots of niknaks on the wall.
Food and drink were good, tried the mango chicken salad and enjoyed it. They had a cereal bar that I wanted to try, but unfortunately was closed on the Monday. Nice place to chill, has aircon (in one half) and wifi, so you can sit back and relax after walking round Ipoh. Staff were really nice and friendly.

Tandoor Grill

'Classic With A Modern Twist' . An Exclusive Fine Dining Restaurant which specializes in Authentic Northern Indian Cuisine.

Reviewed By Tim S - Bristol, United Kingdom

It’s a while since the last visit, but this restaurant lived up to my old expectations very well. Unless the whole building is taken over by a function, which is rare, there is normally a table for walk-ups. The service is friendly and helpful and the menu extensive and full of classic Northern Indian dishes. The pappodums are good for accompanying the Hoegarden beer served in pewter tankards. We chose Malabar Prawns, Chicken Tikka, plenty of Tadkar Dahl and Bindhi Baji, with plain white rice: plenty to satisfy the appetites of three people. Delicious flavours, expertly cooked and nicely presented. The decor and spaciousness create an air of luxury and even the toilets are grand (and though indoors, outside the air conditioned space.) Safe to say you are unlikely to be disappointed here!

This restaurant located opposite foh San, still using traditional style to deliver dim sum. Recommended porridge and 'ha gun', which is the prawn mixed with pork mince wrapped with beancurd skin and deep fried. Average rm12-20 per person. To avoid the crowed, go there on weekday or go there early morning let's say 6.30am on weekend. When you go to a dim sum restaurant, ask for their ketchup, because it is very different to the commercial ketchup.

I came here because I was expecting discounted guinness during happy hour.
But they only discount the tasteless, generic beers, like Tiger. Very disappointing. I read a lot of conflicting reviews on TripAdvisor and all of them proved to be inaccurate.
Prices are hefty; A pint of Guinness will set you back 28 ringgit plus 10 percent service & tax 6 percent whacked on top of the advertised price. So you end up paying about 32.50 for a pint. Think tourist - Lemon squeezing.
Even forMalaysia that’s at the upper end of the spectrum. Pity because it’s a very well designed building, with an open front, so you’re not hemmed in. Band is okay too; western music sung in English. If you’re a non-smoker like me you may find the passive smoking experience annoying. With so many countries (even Thailand) banning smoking indoors, I can’t understand why Malaysia doesn’t follow suit. We can only hope.

Well.. Its hard not to visit Ipoh without going to the coffeeshop that started it all. I recommend going early and taking note of the opening times as the only stall that was open when I visited was the dim sum stall. With that being said, I thought the egg toast and coffee were on point. No complaints about the quality.
