High quality traditional family run hotel
Reviewed By Peter MWe had booked a standard room and were pleased to be allocated a smaller first floor room with balcony facing the vineyards - very pleasant for sitting out despite the traffic on the road. The room was well-appointed although travellers should note there is no air conditioning, fridge or kettle. Breakfast was included and the buffet was superb with fruit and rolls especially good. The restaurant is a beautiful traditional Schwarzwald room. The hotel is very well-maintained and retains the waterwheel from its days as a mill. We used the hotel as a base for visiting Feldberg (good walk to the peak), Todtnau (lovely walk up the waterfall) and Freiberg (beautiful bustling city). Glottertal itself is very pretty and good to walk around. We can recommend the Balbina restaurant for good value pasta, pizza and wine.

The staff are very friendly, the food is absolutely delicious (4-course menu every evening when booking half board), there is a large breakfast buffet, the room was beautiful, with a view on the stream next to the hotel, and I loved the spa area. Good location, not too far from Freiburg. I am definitely returning here!

Treasure in the heart of the Black Forest
Reviewed By Ildiko IIn order to avoid pricy hotels (and expensive parking) in the city center of Freiburg, I have decided to spend a night at this small inn 15 minutes away from the city center of Freiburg. And I was very glad doing so! The room was spacious and tidy with a beautiful balcony overlooking the landscape and the church in front (do not worry about the bell you can get use to it, it is not that loud). The staff was friendly and I could park the car on the backyard of the hotel for free. I paid 63€ for a night and a delicious breakfast (good sortiment with gluten free options). Good value for money, I had a nice sleep and could work from the room with a good WiFi as well. Highly recommended for leisure and business travellers as well.

LOVELY FAMILY HOTEL FINEST KITCHEN
Reviewed By David HThird time in this finest hotel and we shall visit again for sure. The Hotel is Located 10 - 15 minutes drive from Freiburg. Many sites attractions that require a short driving time. The Hotel itself is Family managed and so its wonderful restaurant and vineyard. The place is surrounded by Park. The hotel rooms are large and pleasant. The Hotel has an inner pool at the 3rd floor, Sauna wet and dry and 2 tennis courts.

Nice Hotel, Well Situated, Staff Helpful

Situated just above the main village, parking wasn't a problem and the place was always very quiet. Our room (303) had a balcony at the rear, from which we could watch horses in the neighbouring fields. The breakfast offered a wide selection of cheeses, meats, bread etc. and as much coffee as we could drink. The staff were also very helpful whenever I asked them a question about the area. I would recommend this hotel as good place to use as a base to visit the Black Forest.

Good location. Had dinner there both nights and their breakfasts were also good. Would certainly go back there again.

Such a friendly welcome to this beautifully kept B & B
Reviewed By cutter72ldcBertha welcomed us warmly and helped us settle into our lovely room, explaining a lot about the local area. Despite our lack of German (we were the only non German speaking guests during our stay) and her slightly limited English, we manged very well to understand one another. The room (number 5) had a wrap-around balcony - the views from which in any direction were just jaw-dropping - and was furnished with a small patio table and chairs as well as loungers (with cushions also provided). The room itself was spacious and very well furnished (large double bed, wardrobe, armchair, sofa and side tables) and the en suite shower room was a good size: everything was absolutely spotlessly clean. We found our 4 night stay very comfortable and could easily have stayed longer. As the accommodation is off the main road through Glottertal it was extremely quiet and peaceful but still within a few minutes walk of all amenities. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and offered a wide range of items for most tastes (breads, cereals, meats, cheeses, yogurts, pastries, home made preserves and included eggs cooked to order). Bertha offered us info on hiking in the area and we did several lovely walks straight from the property. She also recommended several local restaurants to eat local food. she also offered a "guest pass" which gives free use of local buses and trains, which we used to visit Freiberg, and reduced rates for several local amenities, including the lovely outdoor swimming pool in the village. only one small grumble: free WiFi was available but only in the breakfast room or ground floor garden, not in the rooms. I would not hesitate to recommend Landpension Haus Ruth as somewhere to stay and would be very happy to return there if we are ever in the area again.
