Reviewed By rahmadimdWonderful hotel. Located in the city center of Wuyishan county. Closed to the south gate of scenic area. 10 rmb by tricycle going there or you can take public bus no 6 get on at taiyangcheng station, 10 minute walk to the bus stand. Staff were polite, accomodating and friendly. When check in you will be given souvenir and fruits as a gift. The room was big, clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable with good linen and pillow. The lighting of room was good. Good TV channel selection with selected good movies for free. The bathroom was clean, big with good water pressure and hot water. We were not able to have breakfast. There is restaurant next to the hotel "jun yan", very recommended, very delicious food and affordable. I recommend this hotel for all travellers who will stay long in Wuyishan. The price is very reasonable cheap for the room and service you will get.

Reviewed By Heejun LI think this hostel is quite worth a visit. The facilities are pretty good. It is surprisingly well maintained as well. The people are pretty friendly and do try their best to socialize and help the guests. I can recommend this hostel for a short visit in the city Probably some short coming would be to constantly clean the communal toilets. They can get pretty muddy as people just keep coming in and out.

Very enjoyable stay
Reviewed By LukatravelsI recently stayed at The Wall in with 3 of my friends, and all of us had a great stay, and a awesome time in the city. As soon as we arrived, the hotel owner made us feel right at home. He's a great guy, and throughout the week he gave us recommendations on where to go and what to do, as well as answering any questions we had. He was very informed! The place itself is beautiful. The furnishings on the inside are very nice and appropriate, and the flowers and the garden is a beautiful sight to see when you walk out in the morning :) Even though the hotel was great, the location was even better. Nobody goes on vacation to stay inside the hotel room, and with all the activities near the hotel, we were never bored. We could go to the beach ( short 10 minute walk), and then comeback change, and go to the Xiamen University, which was only a 15 minute bus ride away. We also visited many other places such as Southern putuo temple, and Gulangyu Island, as well as many others because they were so conveniently placed! Overall, it was a awesome experience and i highly recommend it to anyone!

Room for improvements
Reviewed By karensunqingMaybe my expectation was too high, given the very positive reviews on TA and the recommendations from other sites. It is not as friendly as some other B&Bs I stayed in during the past, and somehow lack of personality. To be fair, the house is nice, and rooms are spacious with natural lighting. I was in room A301, a triple room with a small balcony. The interior decor, from lobby, to shared area along the stairs, as well as the room inside, is pretty nice and chic. Strong wifi signal, large flat screen TV, powerful AC, and also a hand-drawing leaflet upon check-in to give basic guidance and advice on whereabouts. And the area is very quiet in the evening to have good-night sleep. Those are all superb and highly appreciated. Now the downside. No shower towel is provided and you have to ask for it to be sent to your room. (Please don't tell me this is environmentally friendly). And everyday, we receive two towels regardless the fact that this is a triple room and three adults are staying there. No room service is provided during our three-day stay, even though we put a sign of "please clean the room" on the door nob every morning. Beds are not made, cups are not washed, no tea bags are refilled, only dustbin is emptied. Location is not so great. It is within the Zengcuoan area, but yet there's some 20 minutes walk to the core touristic streets. Same 20 minutes walk to the beach. There're bus stops in less than 5 min walk, but again you will have to take a bus to go everywhere. I think the key reason I give this not-so-positive review is that this B&B lacks a feel of hospitality and a feel of at home. Somehow staying there I don't feel being welcomed (as is expected in a B&B). The staff at the reception does their job, but wouldn't talk to guests unless they're talked to, and it's only question-and-answer type of conversation. The whole building is soooo quiet that makes me feel bit constraint when talking to each other in shared area. I don't mean to shout or talk on top of the voice, but whisper for fear of disturbing others is not something I would call being at home. Well, all-in-all, this is a nice place, but still room for improvements. :-)

Reviewed By Mengcheng WThe hotel was transformed from an old house, which, in my opinion, should be considered an attraction per se. Each room is paired with a famous painter, with 1 or 2 paintings from the painter it's paired to. There is QR code about the painter that you can scan to access further infos about him/her. The hotel provides simple local-style breakfast at a reasonable price;it also provides several cocktails at night, but I haven't tried their lunch. Gulangyu island is too commercialized in a way. Stores and crowds eclipse the beauty of some historic architectures. I wouldn't recommend you guys to travel here from June to August since the island would be too crowded.

No fuss or kitsch revamping, attentive staff, oldish decoration along with great value and ... yoga classes. Loved to hang out with the family of cats in the terrace~garden. A great choice even though it means taking a bus or taxi ride to get to most places. Definitely recommended.
