Verre Y Table

We have tried to visit this restaurant before but got turned away as we didn't have a reservation then. This time around we made sure we reserve our table and sure enough, this place was really packed to the brim at dinner time !It's hidden in a quiet street in this suburb in Brussels but nonetheless is serving very impressive high quality dishes. We are very happy wth our respective selection of lamb and magret de canard (duck). They have a set menu of 3 courses at a reasonable 29.50. But as we fancied one of the appetizers but didn't want the full menu, we were delighted that they allow ala carte ordering of the dish on the menu too.Services were top notch quality and very attentive waiters. We will definitely return again.

Un gout de chez nous

This is a small neighborhood restaurant off the beaten path. It has the tapas concept, where you order two or three items from the list and then choose either a sweet dessert or cheese tray. I chose the ham and melon first...excellent. Second was the smoked salmon...excellent. For the third, I chose the beef with Belgium fried. The beef was terrible...fatty, tough, hardly able to chew. The sweet dessert tray was excellent. So, avoid the beef and choose another, and you’ll do fine. Just 5 minute walk from the Courtyard hotel. 48 euros excluding drinks.

We got there right when it opened, shortly before noon. It is the game meat season and the day’s special included both deer and hare. The hare was cooked medium rare as it should, served with a harlequin sauce (i.e, 2 sauces of different colors) and accompanied by a poached apple, Belgian endives and celeriac croquettes. This followed a starter of butter soaked rye toast with mushrooms and garlic. A good meal to celebrate a fall that finally arrived.

I had diner here with a group of 9 persons and I shared a chateaubriand of the Black Aberdeen Angus Schotland. And OMG that was really nice. The best meat since a long time eaten in a restaurant. It was tasteful and really well prepared. And I can’t really speak for the others but I have only heard positive reactions, so I was not the only one enjoying. If I have the change I will definitely come back!

Anarchy

Reviewed By pojke-fredde

This place opened 6 months ago after Antonio Morreale closed his Italian restaurant here. We went for a lunch on the small simple inner yard that seats just 12, and all tables were taken including some inside. With a little amuse, an excellent starter of bouchot mussels in a creamy sauce, followed by a firm piece of pollack with linguine and mashed potatoes. When ordering a coffee we received a little mousse and a small cake. All was tasty and prepared with care. And all that for just 25€! Great find. PS-not sure there was much anarchy on our plates, though, or it must have been the serving of mashed potatoes ánd pasta with the fish...
