Spa Day
Reviewed By BrookeMoralesI can only comment on a full day in the Spa, not an overnight stay. Beautifully located in the Powerscourt Estate, the hotel enjoys a tranquil position. Walk through the grand entrance to the spa, located downstairs. Elegant and stylish with a Swarovski swimming pool, reception area and restaurant on one level and treatment rooms, relaxation room and spa on the upper level. Staff here is friendly and polite and the treatments we chose were lovely. Massages, neck, head, legs and feet. Lunch was part of the package. Tasty and fresh, soup and salad and an assortment of sandwiches and pastries afterwards. Nearly too much food. My only critique is that the downstairs jacuzzi could be a tad warmer and the upstairs whirlpool in the ladies section a lot warmer. This one was cold!! Not what you want in a spa! You will find plenty of towls in the change rooms, lockers and bathrobes plus slippers are provided. You will also have access to showers, hairdryer etc.. Relaxing !

Very dirty, short staffed & poor customer service

Our room (106) was so tiny, incredibly basic (very much like a hostel) and had a large amount of mould above the shower in the tiny bathroom. At check-in, we were led into the bar area to wait, where there were 3 groups ahead of us, not offered a drink or anything so we decided to go to the restaurant for lunch instead of wasting more time. The food is very basic. Most definitely you could make it at home, and very cheaply. The crab and avocado salad was made with tinned crab for example. The pool has a dark line of dirt around the water line and felt really run down. The showers in the changing rooms were absolutely disgusting with wet towels and rubbish left on the floor. We went to reception to report the mess and ask for clean towels but again were left waiting more than 15 minutes while the receptionist chatted. I emailed to give feedback and was told they're busy and understaffed so cant give 100%!! The grounds are OK, but there are various skips and lockups around that are messy. We were so disappointed that we thought this would be a treat for us. The spa treatment was lovely, and the yoga class was good (after the teacher stopped moaning at us for having entered the room early! The staff were not overly friendly, and only the spa treatment and the yoga class made us feel calm. The place as a whole has a strange atmosphere otherwise.

Lack of readiness and preparation when we arrived. Large amounts of used towels and bed linen obstructing the lift.
Reviewed By cliodhna2012Lack of readiness and preparation in hotel when we arrived to chek-in. Lack of helpfulness in allowing access to a room rather than public toilets to change to attend a family wedding. No kettle in room despite asking at reception . Long life milk was in 'clumps' .

Reviewed By patriciagU6986BFI have to say that Yvonne is the nicest host I have met in Ireland so far. As soon as we arrived she showed us to our room. It was tidy, clean and decorated with much love. She then made us reservations at a nearby restaurant as we were very hungry from a long days drive. She goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. The breakfast ist great as is the location. Thank you Yvonne for making this last stop unforgettable.

Reviewed By H5408EGtimbCan’t rate the food as I went here for a drink and some local pub atmosphere. I fairly quickly learnt this wasn’t being offered. As I wasn’t eating food (it was 20.30) despite their being plenty of seats free I was made to feel pretty unwelcome and told the only place I could sit was in the very back section of the pub away from the ‘diners’. So if your going for food I’m sure it’s fine but don’t expect a local Irish pub atmosphere as it seems locals aren’t even welcome unless buying dinner.
