Axminster is a market town and civil parish on the eastern border of the county of Devon in England, some 28 miles (45 km) from the county town of Exeter. The town is built on a hill overlooking the River Axe which heads towards the English Channel at Axmouth, and is in the East Devon local government district. At the 2001 census, it had a population of 5,626, increasing to 5,761 at the 2011 census. The town contains two electoral wards (town and rural) the total sum of both wards being a population of 7,110. The market is still held every Thursday.

It had been almost a year since we last visited Monsoon. However, I am delighted to report that standards are still very high. From the welcome to our departure, it was an entirely positive experience. Service - excellent. Food - excellent. Value - excellent. Monsoon sets the standard, and delivers time after time. A very nice meal here. Great value and very tasty food. A little bit lost in translation when one of our party received a dish much, much hotter than he'd requested, but very quickly addressed by the attentive staff who brought yogurt to cool it down. I rarely give five stars but, based on our experience on Monday, Bath House deserves it.Lovely staff, great service and good food - one of the best Beef Rendangs I've had in years and my mussels to start were also good. The MemSahib had very good scallops and a lovely chicken breast in a wild mushroom cream sauce. Okay wine list. So far a good four star experience - but anyone who chases after me half way down the street to return my phone (duh!) deserves an extra star IMHO.

What a find. A truly fabulous Thai Restaurant. Tonight we were celebrating my husbandâs birthday and couldnât have chosen anywhere better. As we are holidaying in the area, this was a âpot luckâ choice (though we did check other Tripadvisor recommendations.A really friendly family run the hotel and restaurant, you are seated in the lounge to have a drink whilst your meal is cooked for you- you even get to decide how spicy you want it because every dish is cooked from scratch.The food was all delicious and beautifully presented, service was great-cheerful and attentive.Weâd highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for a delightful evening.

I often come to enjoy the mild yellow curry with perfectly cooked vegetables for lunch with friends. Yesterday I was very impressed and happy with the smoked salmon tortilla wraps. The food is always well presented, and nothing seems too much trouble for the staff. Thank you.We really appreciate that we can choose a satisfying lunch for less than £10, and so we come quite often.

inside is a cracking restaurant that offers great food, service and value for money. We popped in just after 6pm on the off chance whilst we were visiting Lyme Regis and we surprised how busy it was at that time. Having eaten there it is not hard to see why it is so popular and we were lucky to have got a table. We were near the desk and the phone was constantly ringing with people making bookings for Friday and the weekend ( this was on a Monday night). Clearly a popular place with a large menu which was very well cooked. They only do soft drinks so you will have to take your alcohol in if you want that, but I believe there are places on the doorstep to pick up your favourite drink.Lovely visit and would happily eat there again the next time we are in Lyme Regis

As it was my Grandaughters birthday she wanted a Chinese. It cost £56. Firstly the order was wrong we ordered vegetable noodles and a chicken noodles they sent two chicken which meant the vegaterian had small tea. The other dishes were cold and very bland the sweet and sour sauce was watery. This will be that last time we use it

Super little avian takeaway, good prices, such a lovely lady who served us. Has the Pork Belly Bao and Chicken Satay Bao, with spicy side salad. Fresh coriander sprinkled on top. She is plastic free, so all paper and wooden utensils - will fill water bottles for free. Really cracking little place right by the beach.

Visiting the area and stayed for dinner. Excellent menu with some very different dishes offered. Enjoyed the ayre jalfrezi which had excellent flavours and not overpowering heat (rated 3 chilli's). The prawn on puri rates as one of the best I've had. Bhajis were good and more importantly not oily. Devil tamarind was beautiful with the tamarind flavour coming through well and giving a good depth of colour. Good, friendly service. Busy evening for dining and takeaway given the number of times the phone rang. Highly recommended.
