Reviewed By SPF04This was our third stay, previously in 2013 & 2014. We booked over a year in advance. We had arrived in NZ that morning. So we were very grateful to get in the room so early and thank you all very much for making that happen. Love the location. So nice to park the car and be able to walk everywhere. Great having the pool. Having the outdoor covered laundry hanger is awesome. This place give you that nice feeling of "living there" which I wish we could. We took our chairs from the balcony and enjoyed the small outdoor grassy area on the ground floor with some wine and cheese. You can hear the ocean at night with the bedroom window open. It was quiet, relaxing and very enjoyable. We would stay here again and again. Thank you and sorry for the late review.

We are a small motel 250 meters from the centre of Coromandel Town. Coromandel Town is 2.5 hours from Auckland city. All our rooms have air conditioning and free fast wifi. We offer 3 x 50 square meter 1 bedroom suites that can sleep up to 5 (built 2007). 6 x 25 square meter studio with queen beds that can sleep up to 3 (built in 2015 and 2019) . 1 x 68 square meter 2 bedroom suite that can sleep up to 6 ( built in 2015). All our suites have spa baths and large bathrooms and Freeview TV ,Netflix and Prime video our studios have ensuite shower rooms .

Reviewed By J0C71We stayed in the one bedroom spa unit. Super spacious unit. Everything is beautifully clean. We loved relaxing in the double spa bath. Lovely quiet location. Friendly host.Easy walk to township. Highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be back.

Anchor Lodge is located 2.5 hours drive from Auckland International Airport, one hour from Hot Water Beach and within 3.5 hours from Rotorua.
BEWARE dishonest, prejudice and dirty
Reviewed By Peter PWe were encouraged to pay when we arrived instead of using booking . com so anchor lodge wouldn't be charged an overhead. You will be in a backpacking lodge shared with a lot of other people who are noisy including the owners and their dog, children and entire family living at the lodge. Now we booked a room for 2 people for 2 nights but only with the intention of having my son stay provided my wife and I could use the bathroom when needed. The lady we dealt with agreed. A small man on the property kept walking passed my wife and looking at her and my son then approached me in our campervan and started asking me which room we booked and if we had a key and when challenged as to why he was asking all these questions he declared himself the owner then told us to get off their property with our dogs who not once barked or stepped foot out of the camper. He then got his wife to tell us the same thing. This was not an issue when we made the booking but now having spent 1 night they were making up reasons to evict us even though only my son stayed in the tiny jail cell room they gave him. My wife and I went across the road and some other relation of theirs came speeding out of the lodge with his dorr wide open then circled our camper then drove back inside the lodge. We felt threatened enough to leave. The lady promised to refund the 1 night we didn't use then emailed us today and said they wouldn't. Extremely horrible experience with dishonest and deceitful hosts. We will never come back nor recommend to anyone but we will tell everyone how unpleasant it was.

Terrible communication with the owner
Reviewed By I4168PMhollyhNot only is reception no available in reasons hours ( it does say this on the door ) but the after-hours number DOES NOT WORK. The kind girl Chloe who had finished her shift tried to help by providing another number for us to seek help however this was not answered either. The young girl then came to our aid well out of her hours and apologised. No way to run a business if the poor staff are not supported. Chloe made sure we had a comfortable stay best to her abilities.

Good Value, Very Clean, Retro Motel
Reviewed By DebbieR163This place is a retro, motor-in in the Main Street of Whitianga. The operators are helpful and friendly and the place is spotlessly clean. It is old style but has everything you need, good shower, comfortable bed and a kitchen. The location is great, a couple of minutes walk to the ferry and waterfront and shops and cafes on your door step. Very quiet. Highly recommended, great value.

Reviewed By slats2014Although an older style Motel it is in Top condition and the standard of cleaning would be the highest that we have experienced in a long time. We had booked a Studio Unit but prior to arrival there had been a cancellation and we were upgraded to a one bedroom unit. Lots of little extras to make the stay very enjoyable. There would be no better place to stay in Thames than the Brookby Motel.

Reviewed By 608tinatHad a great stay during school holidays. Clean facilities and was able to have children in a separate bedroom. Enjoyed use of the spa pool and my son loved seeing all the Lego displayed in reception. RSA across the road but we ended up going into town for dinner which is only 2 mins down the road.

Tidy, Close to town
Reviewed By Mike ARoom was clean and tidy, 5 minutes walk to town and restaurants, Bed was comfortable, Walls appeared thin you could easily hear voices next door through the walls Smokers outside their units filled our unit with stale smell of smoke but that is not really a fault of the unit, maybe smokers should move to the smoking area. Overall quite a nice motel. Close to town was its biggest attribute.
