It serves as both the capital of the department of Chimaltenango and the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. Chimaltenango stands some 35 miles west of Guatemala City, on the Pan-American Highway. The municipal capital produces textiles and pottery and is also the home of the Rose Education Foundation, a non-profit organization working to make educational opportunities available to children living in rural areas in Guatemala.

Good food, ans nice place.BUT they charge different prices on the bill than on the menu AND signs on the wall (eg Gallo charged Q20 instead of Q15 as mentioned in the menu and on the wall). The waitress said that it's the boss's decision, but what proves it? Was she just ripping me off?That's shameful, illegal, and ruins the whole experience.Sadly a well spread practice in Guatemala.Thank you so much for your comment,that was very nice of. And because of your comment I was able to find out that my staff has been dishonest, and over charging our customers. I'm truly sorry and will give back what she over charged you. And if you are still in town or come back you will have a free beet. Thanks agian

The place is very good, is well decorated and good music where one can chill and relax. The food and drinks are average, I was expecting to try different type of rums and a little bit of explanation (similar to a wine cellar) but that doesn´t exist there.Service is very bad, the order took forever (more than 20 minutes to bring us drinks and 45 minutes to bring us the food) and they even got the food wrong.

If you are looking for food in this town of great artist this is were you will be finding a pleasant surprise. Once you find it downstairs or better upstairs with rustic furniture and a construction in progress you find yourself in good hands. The young male family crew will take care of you and the food is better than expected! Relax

While staying at Casa Florencia Hotel we had breakfast one morning at Me Late Café, which is adjacent to the hotel. They offer three choices for their breakfast menu. Their coffee was very good. I assume their coffee is from Finca Filadelfia because they had 12 oz. bags of Dalton coffee for sale at their counter. Their breakfast was very good and the price was reasonable.

The grounds of this place are beautifully landscaped with tropical plants and flowers; there is a nice playground for children on the lawn. You can smell the delicacies cooking in the outdoor smoker. Some of the cleanest restrooms you will ever behold are just outside the dining room. Inside is an ambience and warmth you would find in the home of a friend. Monica and company are SO welcoming and nice. Her parents are from Switzerland and she speaks several languages. The wine selection is better than most, and they have the little splits which are perfect for lunch. The local cuisine is out of this world, tasty, and excellent. I had some scrumptious chicken and my companions had beef. We started out with a tasty home made soup. I would love to go back there and try other menu items.
