Rooms are nice and beds very comfortable …lovely property..but that was it for us. During off season the managers are not on site so any issues you have to call them and wait till they arrive. TV cable never worked right the entire three night stay…poor pictures or no channels at all. Internet quit entirely one day…again had to wait till they came and rest everything. Hot water was an ordeal. You had to run the bathtub about 5 minutes to get hot water so it would then flow in the sink just to wash your hands.Lines always cold and needed to clear. Bathroom had no heat so tile floor was ice cold ..as was the toilet seat if you sat!..a few light bulbs also out and not replaced. This is likely a totally different hotel at peak season but other than a regular room with a great bed..that’s it for April..

Worth a drive - destination hotel

I checked in around five on a Saturday, and the cèilidh was already going. Over three hours the party went, with elder locals cramming tables and welcoming tourists into conversation. Great food, we got two different kinds of nachos (it was National Nacho Day, after all), steak frites, and fish n chips. Great local craft beers. Once the live music stopped, over the evening the crowd changed to a younger locals crowd, half the age of the prior set. A sight to behold, this place is popular among and good for anyone of any age. Later on, we grabbed some local wine from the on-site store and site-made choclate from the on-site chocolatier before retiring to the room, past a few youth still up around midnight playing basketball on a lit court. The view in the morning from the balcony (all rooms have them on the second floor, the first floor has walk out doors with porches) is beyond stunning. Fridge in the room, television is solely streaming (no cable), but that is not why you're there. Love this place, worth the hours drive, especially for the Saturday matinee. Also this is Nova Scotia, so we have very few restrictions right now, so most of the questions Trip Advisor asked don't apply here (you can't get into the province if you aren't vaccinated against COVID).

Great location but needs some love and care

We stayed at Water's Edge for one night in September, 2021. I'll start off with the positives... 1. - great location close to the village that has a couple of nice restaurants, gift shops and a good grocery store. 2.- nice view from the rooms at the front of the inn 3.- yummy breakfast 4. - great hosts that were very welcoming and informative about the area 5.- clean Unfortunately, the inn needs improvements... 1.- the access to our room was at the side of the house and the access was very dorm-like...that should have been a good indication of what the room was going to be like 2.- our room needed a great deal of updating 3.- bedding was clean but old 4.- tv was ancient with very poor reception and poor angles to watch 5.- wifi weak 6.- dim lighting and difficult to read a book 7. - everything very dated and the room rate was not indicative of this

Looks Better Online

Reviewed By Patricia J

As we drove up, we could tell that the picture online must have been taken some time ago. The building needs painting as do the back stairs which you have to use to get luggage in the building. The view of the harbor is obstructed by ugly industrial buildings. We were put in room 1. It is a nice sized room with a sitting area. Bed was good. Unfortunately, the bathroom was tiny- the smallest sink I've seen and there was mold in the shower. There was only one other set of guests and they were put in the next room. Why? They got up earlier than we did and the running water in the bathroom sounded like it was in our room. It was also noisy at night with the wind blowing. We went to the owner's cafe in town for dinner. It is just one year old and the food was good. Breakfast at the Inn was very good. The town is depressed - not too nice to walk around. Although the reservation print-out said there was a tv in the room, there is no tv on the property. This was a big disappointment for us as we really wanted to see a sporting event. The owner was very understanding and was gracious in refunding our next night's stay so we could get to a place with a tv. We appreciated his understanding.

Horrible Experiences (yes, plural)

Reviewed By John B

My story. I booked the room for one person and a dog for one night. I arrived and it was a bit of chaos as they had a major event in the dining room that night. Staff were rather pre-occupied with that (first hint at trouble - staff not dedicated to the hotel). This also meant that I was not able to get a meal at the hotel. Check in was OK and I got to my room - tho it seriously fealt I was not part of the hotel as the room is away and down stairs. Felt odd. Room itself is OK. Not great, not horrible. Appeared clean. Fun began at 230 AM when the fire alarm went off. No fire, false alarm, but all guests had to leave their rooms. It took OVER an hour to turn the alarm off and allow guests to return. Not much of an apology from the hotel - perhaps this is normal. During our forced evacuation, the hotel's night watchman tried to pick fights with other hotel guests. Why? Not sure. But he did try to get other guests involved to help him with the fight. Very bizarre behaviour. Fun continued AFTER I got home. I noticed that my credit card was billed TWICE for one night. So I emailed the hotel and they said YUP, I was correct, I did get billed twice. But I would have to call them to get it corrected. Why? Who knows, but they could take your money twice without the customer's involvement, but could not refund it without involving the customer. Oh, and it wasn't calling them that day, I was supposed to call the next day. Why? Who knows. Life got in the way so it took me a week to call back to the hotel. On my first call I was told that they were closed (despite someone answering the phone). That was weird. So I was told I had to call them the next day. The next day I called. I was told - oh, we're not in the office today. So maybe call tomorrow. HUH!!! The person on the phone, noticed my tone, and said that they would call me back tomorrow. GRRRRRR They then suggested I give them my credit card number and they would process the refund when they got in to the hotel. Great! Finally some positive action. NOPE Check my credit card statement and noticed that I got a refund. But not for the full amount. I got a 90% refund. Not 100% which I fully expected. I have another email off to the Inn because I know phone calls are useless to this company. Who knows, maybe I only got a partial refund as there is a service fee for dealing with hotel screw ups or perhaps the hotel charges an entertainment fee for middle of the night fire drills. I had really high expectations of this facility. What a let down. So my advice - check your credit card statements and ensure you can leave your room on short notice. I will not be stopping at this facility again.
