My husband and I recently spent a weekend in Morbisch. We picked this restaurant for dinner at random and were very pleasantly surprised. It has a lovely traditional interior and atmosphere. The menu offered a range of more modern style Austrian dishes with a focus on local produce, especially fish from the lake. We were very happy with the quality of food. I had the seasonal soup for starter followed by tagliatelle with chanterelles, both were extremely good. The restaurant itself can cater for a large number of people and it has an outdoor terrace which would be lovely in the warmer months. My only negative comment is that our waiter was not very friendly and it felt more like the service given in Vienna rather than the usually friendly service in Burgenland. Otherwise, an excellent dinner.Good evening, dear Fam. runsammie,Thank you so much for your kind visit in our restaurant; thank you very much for your top rating given to us - especially for the quality of food and the atmoshere. We sincerely regret the waiter's unfriendliness; we apologize for this accidental manner. We hope we can welcome you again in our premises. Thank you for visiting uns ! Kind regards, the Schmidt Family & the entire team.

We came to this restaurant with my wife and our 3 year old daughter after reading some nice reviews. The location and setting was beautiful. It was strange to see that the people arriving after we did were placed first and they right away got the menu and took their order for drinks. While we were looking the menu we asked 3 times to order drinks. Not only they did not take our order, they brought drinks to guests came after us. It was somewhat roudy place with big groups of people speaking at the tables. Our daughter was listening to kid's music on a low volume (15% on iphone) - hardly noticable. The waiter came to us but instead of taking our order she strictly ordered us to switch it off. And if we can not immediately switch it off, it is better if we go somewhere else.... This arrogance left us no doubt to leave immidiately... super rude peopleDear Akos! You came to our restaurant and I placed you. First your wife took some pictures with her camera, from the restaurant and from the garden. So I waited until your wife came back. In the meantime I took the order from the other guests. Then I brought a small chair for your little daughter and translated the menu. During the translation was your daughter playing music with the mobil phone (and it was sometimes very loud, not 15% as you wrote) and I told you that this is not possiblebecause of the other guests. You tried to take away the mobil phone from your daughterbut you realized very quickly that she would cry if you take it away. I told you a second time that she had to switch it off. After this YOU said that it would be better to go to another restaurant. Sorry, but playing mobil phone is disturbing, weather in the restaurant or on another place were people want to have their rest. Everyone knows this. Best regards, Susanne Pilz

We always use tripadvisor to find the best local eateries and this one was good. The restaurant itself is pretty nice and plenty of room to move about. With other restaurants your are squeezing into tables that are too close to each other, but not here, you get to keep your personal space and enjoy it. Serving locally grown and produced food and drinks makes this a good dining experience, however I went for the roast beef that disappointed. Little. It was more like a steak rather than the thinly sliced roast beef I am used to, but it was not bad. I also had the homemade pate and the sweet wine that came with it was an excellent pairing and a fantastic taste. The wife had the duck breast which was excellent. Good selection of wine to accompany your food. No English menus available so brush up on your German although the staff do speak English.

As Heurigenrestaurants go, this is upscale. It is in the garden of a regular restaurant. Peter Schandl also produces a good variety of reasonably priced superior wines. The restaurant was recommended by several local people. It is a good idea to make reservations, which we did on our second visit. The garden restaurant is a busy place with mostly 6 or 8 person tables. Expect to share your table with strangers. More often than not, we find this a pleasant experience, especially for tourists and travelers alike. One couple with whom we shared a table on our first visit, we met again in two other restaurants later in the week.We tried several local specialties and were surprised at the quality of the preparation and the appearance. Now, this is not a Michelin 3 Star, but the food is very good. We have seen much better service, but here it was friendly and rushed.

We went for dinner and we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. The vegetables looked and tasted as if they came out of a bag of frozen mixed vegetables, same with the sauces, probably made from a cheap powder base. Prices, however, were the same as in other much nicer places in Illmitz which offered better quality food.

My first visit with gourmet friends some five years ago left me with truly good impressions, even though just one evening following the famous (then) Michelin starred restaurant on the other side of Neusiedl lake. So I brought here my family (all grownups) for a late summer lunch even though the Austrian restaurant reviewers at Falstaff have recently notably reduced their score.Parking right opposite easy to find. Temperatures truly summer high, so we went to the small terrace (»garden«) in the back where the air was far cooler. The waitress only came to the restaurant when we were already seated. It was an afternoon hour between lunch and dinner, but the restaurant boasts being open for business throughout the day, so I was a bit surprised. Restrooms nice and very well kept.Unfortunately, it seems that also the chef was taking an afternoon nap home at the time, as the dishes ordered and served were well below our expectations and even the current reduced Falstaff score. We were the single guests, so I would have expected great attention to our glasses, but… Wine list covers Burgenland very well, but somehow it proves my case that emerging wine tourism in the region still has a lot to learn from Italy and Spain – in its very center you do not expect to pay abominable markups for local wine produced within a twenty miles circle. Double the price in the local wine store? Shame! So instead of Tiglat we drank To with the producer only 2 miles away. As to the cuisine level, 9 on a 1 to 20 scale is more than enough for what we tasted that afternoon. Again, it could be that the kitchen was running on ancillary staff during those hours. Perhaps the waitress had at the time also some additional work to do, like making up the tables inside. But then, I would kindly recommend the owners to close down the restaurant part between lunch and dinner and avoid such guests' disappointments. This is not a cheap fast food eatery!
