Absolutely beautiful

We had the family suite. It was very roomy and had all the comforts of home. The views from each room were spectacular. We had dinner and breakfast and both were great. Service was over the top. So glad we stayed.

Hostal Wara Uta

Lovely hostel, bit of a trek.

Reviewed By mollytheblog

This hostel is a little bit of a trek - it took us about an hour from Yumani port with our big rucksacks on. However it was a very nice place to stay, clean rooms, a hot shower and a good breakfast (bread, an egg cooked however you'd like and a fresh fruit salad). Also - it's very close to Las Velas which is a lovely restaurant with a good view. The next morning we only had to walk 10 minutes to the Mirador, so although it had been a long walk up to the hostel at least we only had to do it once!

Welcoming and cute hostel

Reviewed By hannahrose59

I stayed in the hostel as part of a larger group of 13 on an expedition. We arrived very early at about 3am at the hostel and the owners were very accommodating and quick to show us to our rooms and get us settled in. The rooms are simple, clean and cute. There is a lovely communal area to sit in downstairs next to the fire which is very cosy and homely. Silvia, the owner would often bring out blankets for us when we sat on the sofas which was lovely of her. The hostel itself is very cute with an indoor open area and a lovely seating area for breakfast overlooking the communal sofa area. The whole place had a lovely feeling to it and really made you feel relaxed after the bustle of a day out in La Paz. Breakfast was always highlight of the day with varying juices from day to day, toasties and different fruits. The hostel is central and only a 5 minute walk to the centre of La Paz. All the staff are incredibly friendly and made us feel part of the family. Our Spanish was very limited but they made us fee incredibly welcome and would try and help us im any way possible, whether it be helping book future accommodation in Spanish or helping us set up a phone! They speak limited English but make an effort to communicate as much as possible. On our last day we checked out the hostel to go on our trek, which had to be abandoned, and they willingly welcomed us back that night and even moved mattresses so we could stay there the night and all stay together. I don’t think you’d get this service or friendliness at another hostel. All in all, this is the perfect little hostel to stay in La Paz and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Aggravating

Reviewed By 938theresan

We had difficulty crossing the border into Chile, so we arrived here late and Josie was very kind and helpful, even if she did give us all the wrong information concerning buses, schedules and necessary room changes. The following day was a carnival celebration so there were no buses. We had to stay another night. The blonde girl who works the day shift was rude and unhelpful and told us we needed to change rooms. We wanted to have breakfast first. They rushed us to change rooms, so we packed up and moved. Then, the same girl who had refused to call the bus company for me, told us that they made a mistake and we had to move everything back. We are senior citizens and we had to climb three flights of stairs. Our room was adequate. Breakfast was poor. The location is good. I cannot recommend this place.

Hotel Lago Azul

Magical view! Family-run helpful staff.

Reviewed By Yanivnomad

I got caught in Copacabana during Covid19, so I walked all around the town checking out hotels and am beyond happy I got to stay at Hotel Lago Azul. I stayed there for a month and could not get enough of the view from the hotel balcony (and room) looking back at one of the prominent hills of the town and sweeping out towards the daily sunset on the horizon. Magical memories. The staff are from one family. They were really making sure I would be alright during the crisis, offering to get food for me, supplying me with masks and gloves and helping me to arrange documents to get to La Paz eventually. I can't thank them enough, and wish I was still there! There is a daily breakfast included. The internet was very fast and stable. It can be cold being the highest lake in the world, but there is heating available and the showers are hot. You step out the door and the lake is very close, it's one of the few hotels in town being that close to the lakeside.

Nice place but a bit far from centrum

Reviewed By Backpakz

This place surprised me. The rooms were big and clean, and the bed was big and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty! The only downside is that you have to walk a bit to get to the city centre, and the road is really dark at night with lots of stray dogs.

A fantastic place. The views are stunning. Delicious food, local Andean food, prepared by Mr Mendoza's family. The place is quite a walk from Yumani but for me it was all about hiking and exploring the place. A perfect weekend visit, so tranquil. No wifi but Mr Mendoza kindly offered it. MR Mendoza also offers a boat transport to Copacabana. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Next time i visit it will be a longer stay. Great eco place.

RUDE AND RACIST!

Reviewed By Burak D

Owner was very rude. He made racist remarks. They wrote a 24-hour check-in service on their booking page. This means you can come and check in at night. I also stated in 3 separate messages that I will be arriving late. I sent these messages at an early hour. They asked me to pay an extra night for this. Their behavior was very ugly. They didn't even look at me when I asked something. They didn't answer. They just ran into Spanish with a stern tongue. Because I know little Spanish, I understood their racist statements. Since I didn't have a place to go at night, I had to accept it. In the morning, I woke up and said that I wanted to pay for 1 night and that I wanted to check out. I told them to cancel my reservation from the booking system. They spoke harshly to me in Spanish. I said that I did not understand, that I knew little Spanish. Then I repeated what I wanted and went to my room. The owner of the hostel came and fired me. They said things in Spanish behind my back. Do not stay here. These people are racist and rude. I will write this complaint all over the place. I have been traveling for 5 years. I have traveled to 20 countries. I have stayed in dozens of hotels and hostels. I have never met such rude people. El dueño fue muy grosero. Hizo comentarios racistas. No te quedes aquí. Estas personas son racistas y groseras. Escribiré esta queja por todos lados. He estado viajando durante 5 años. He viajado a 20 países. Me he alojado en decenas de hoteles y hostales. Nunca he conocido gente tan grosera.
