I'm a regular. Ever since I started going to this sort of bistro I never stopped. The food is always great value for money! Varied, sophisticated and tasty. The service is very warm and nice, well since I'm a regular, we've got quite acquainted. I'm even able to order my bottle of wine or of any other beverage and it'll be there the following meal reserved for me to continue enjoying! Totally recommendable!

Canât recommend this place enough. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Food was amazing - the Tequenos were recommended as a starter by the waiter and they were great. Staff were really helpful in recommending vegetarian alternatives for my girlfriend - something which has been difficult throughout Chile. Thanks for a great meal!

It's one of Chile's historic restaurants, having been established in 1947.The Talca branch of Juan y Medio is set over two floors, with the best views (over a strangely empty square - but it's still a view) being from the balcony on the upper level.It was set up by a giant of a man, Don Juan y Medio, who was nearly two metres tall and weighed 135 kilos. Fortunately, the modern chefs also enjoy their food.We had an excellent meal (washed down by a fine bottle from a varied wine list), the service was good, the staff are buzzy and there's an intriguing system of push buttons on each table, which - in theory at least - allow you to call for the bill without the indignity of waving your arms around.An odd feature was a sign in the loo on the upper floor which stated, in Spanish, 'Mixed Toilet, Only Urinate'. Quite how anyone is supposed to contain themselves if there's an urgent call of nature isn't made clear.We picked a 2015 Ventisquero Camenere (13%, 9,900 pesos - about £11), which was a good choice to accompany the meals.I had salmon - a huge, flavoursome roasted steak of fish. The portions here are huge.I also ordered sauteed potatoes and mushrooms; again the quantities were vast. My dining companion had a vegetarian salad, which again was spilling over the plate.Portions are still clearly designed with the founder's appetite in mind. With a tip, the bill came to 43,000 (roughly £50) for two. You could get away with a lot less, but we enjoyed ourselves so much we also had puddings and coffee, and we started with aperitifs.

La comida es muy buena, clásica y tÃpica.Sabrosos platos y un menú completo los fines de semana a excelente valor. Lo único malo, en estos tiempos es inexplicable que no cuenten con pago con tarjetas.El dueño es muy miserable, quiere ahorrar unos pocos pesos al hacer q la gente page con efectivo. Muy mal.

Peppo is a favored restaurant for those who are after meat cooked to order, as their been, especially, but other meats as well as fresh fish, are cooked to order and always seem to please. Reasonable prices; generally a la carte but look for the "plato del dia" or three course meals often available at lunch.

Having had already enough quick lunches at the Mall whenever we're in Talca for business, we decided to make a quick stop for lunch here. The food was nothing less than fantastic: The clam chowder was phenomenal, and the arroz con mariscos exquisite. The service was spotless; the prices OK. They offer a luch menu for about $6.500 pesos and it looked quite appetizing. I'd definitely stop by again, only next time with a bit more time to enjoy it the place even more!

I guess our mistake was in not ordering the meat...which looked great . Unfortunately we got there early and went for a seafood and a pasta dish. Both were marginal at best because of the quantity of salt used in both dishes. So, I guess the tip here is....order a meat dish......maybe with less salt.

We had an exceptional evening at Lo de Julio! Despite being a Chilean public holiday and a Monday (when the restaurant is ordinarily closed), Julio and his family opened to receive our group of nine. The restaurant is established in Julio's house, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and at home. We had the best pisco sours we tried during our time in Chile, beautiful local wines, and every dish of every course was delicious â great flavours, incredibly fresh and beautifully presented!! The meal was world-class, but the personal service and family feel made it particularly special....so much so that we stayed eating and talking for over 5 hours! Thank you â we look forward to coming back next time when we are in Talca!!!
