We stumbled on this restaurant by chance, trying to find a place to eat near Certosa di Pavia (where we couldn't find anything, even though it was already past noon). It is a small place, with several tables all very close to each other, old fashion style. The lady - who I guess was the owner - was very kind and, seeing that we had two little kids, immediately came asking what kind of food they would eat. Then, later on, was asking about our own (very smart!).We ate some appetizers (sea food - octopus, squid), then spaghetti carbonara (which was very nice), and finally some more seafood (shrimp, squid rings). Everything was delicious, and the bill was not that expensive. If you're in Certosa di Pavia to see the monastery, and need to spend time during lunch (the monastery closes from 11:30 to 14:30), drive to Pavia (another 7-8min drive), and the restaurant will be on the road, on your right.

We visited Pavia on Easter Monday, which doubtless was part of the problem. Few restaurants were open. We were seated and served our primi/appetizers within a reasonable amount of time, when a large group of nearly 20 people showed up without a reservation. When a harried-looking woman came out of the kitchen to glare at the young man seating the patrons, we knew we were in trouble. A half-hour later, when she dashed back into the restaurant with a grocery bag, we knew it was futile to expect the secondi within our lifetimes. I even went out after I had eaten my main dish to check on something, and 25 minutes later, my two companions had still not gotten their meals. We clocked it, and there was well over an hour between being served primi and their secondi. I had gotten my secondi in the first round, which I thought was odd, but in retrospect was a good thing, The lone waitress avoided our eyes and at no point was an apology given nor any recompense, such as a free coffee or glass of wine, offered. Both the fish dishes were superb, as was the pasta primi; seafood is definitely their strong point, but one companion's beef was fatty and he left half of it on the plate. I wondered if that's what the cook had gone out for and found only the worst leavings from the holiday weekend in the shop. This is not the first time I have seen a restaurant "compromise the kitchen" (a great phrase I heard from a French restauranteur in Menerbes when he refused to seat additional patrons) out of pure greed. Maybe the large group were all regulars, and we were tourists who would never be back. But be aware that if there are too many people in the restaurant, your service will definitely suffer. Too bad it takes away from the excellent cuisine.

This restaurant is tucked away in a corridor located in the center of Pavia. We had a nice variety of dishes in this restaurant which included a assortment of salumi and also included paste's, meat and fish dishes. We had a large group and everyone was pretty happy with their dishes. Very nice atmosphere which allows for people to enjoy their meal and carry conversations with friends.

Amazing placed on a enchanting place in front of a breathtaking church .. The restaurant at first sight looked like the perfect place to eat traditional local cuisine. The service was impeccable .. But the food, unfortunately didn't convince .. Certainly I only had 3 simple dishes (local clear soup, brasato+polenta, cake) ..but these were just ok

2 premises: 1) it is a Japan-cuisine restaurant, run by a Chinese family; 2) there is no All-U-Can-Eat option. Beyond these (anyone will evaluate them for good or not), the menu, atmosphere, options are very Japanese (abroad): even the dishes are "made in Japan". Menu is wide and presents all the typical Japanese dishes, with many different flavors (hot and cold). Fish seemed quite fresh and tasty, as well as their food, service was very good and quick. Even with few options, even the dessert (we tried sushi dessert) was awesome. For spicy lovers, maybe their wasabi isn't so spicy (for sure, not Korean) and need to be improved. Price is very honest (about 20EUR/pax). Recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

Our fabulous dinner at Erbaluce was one of the highlights of our quick three-day visit to Pavia. Everything at Erbaluce was perfection: a kind welcome, comfortable seating, relaxed atmosphere and an eclectic imaginative menu. We were appreciative that our small well-behaved dog was welcome and for the extensive vegetarian options on their impressive menu. Service was excellent and they offer an extensive wine list. The friendly chef came out of the kitchen to visit with us and we enjoyed her company. I wish we lived closer to Pavia to be able to dine more often at Erbaluce. Very highly recommended!
