We stopped by on a Thursday at the end of February. I wasn't sure if they would seat us since according to Google Maps, they closed in 45 minutes but they were fine. Everyone was seated outside and everything inside was open but I'm not sure if they prefer to clear that area and not seat anyone there after a while.We all loved our meals! And the pricing is fantastic. For our table of 4 (2 couples), we got 2 Mussel Tasters so everyone could try each mussel. For the mains, I got Steamed Mussels in white wine and they were fantastic. I loved dipping the bread from the table in it. The other three got pasta dishes and everyone enjoyed theirs. Those three people are all dairy-free and they were able to easily get a meal.I loved sitting outside as the ambience and decor was spot-on (though a little corny). They had a little water station but weren't great about filling it when it got low. Otherwise, the service was amazing and we enjoyed everyone we encountered!

On our way home to Blenheim from Nelson we stopped for a meal on a Saturday evening. We have a B & B in Renwick and many of our overseas guests had said The Captains Daughter was a good place to have a meal. They were right.Our greeting was really friendly, were shown to a table of our choice and got our drinks sorted. I decided on the green lipped mussels in white wine and garlic and my wife had the mussels in chilli and tomato. Anyone who has had Havelock green lipped mussels knows they are bigger than ones grown in other areas and these were no exception. The combinations were delicious and both of these variations came with Ciabatta bread to soak up the liquid. I ended up spooning up the liquid as it was so delicious.We decided on dessert and where you usually expect basic offerings in a pub setting we were very pleased with the choice. I had the banoffee pie and ice cream and my wife had the fruit crumble but both were presented differently from what you normally expect and tasted delicious. A very good place to eat, reasonably priced and a place I will definitely recommend to our guests.

Fabulous setting on the Pelorus Sound - only accessible by boat. Delicious mussels and seafood platter washed down by a reasonably priced Sauvignon Blanc. Highly recommended - we'll be back to stay on our next visit to NZ.We will look forward to that David. In the meantime safe travels!
