My wife and I have visited Lesvos and Petra on many occasions over the last 25 years. We always make a point of visiting the Mermaid whenever we are in Lesvos.This year we stayed just around the corner from the Mermaid and we used the Mermaid many time. Stamatis and Nikos are always welcoming as are all the staff.Brilliant food, try the fish Sea Bream Sardines Red Mullet all so fresh and well cooked. A good variety of food on the menu.

If you want the best Pizza in Lesvos, arguably in Greece, then this is the place. Ari, Anna and son Timos combine to provide the very best. Hand thrown Pizza base combined with an assortment of delicious fillings combine to make the experience complete. If Pizza is not your forte a range of past dishes, jacket potatoes and grills are also on offer but, the Pizza is the majo Como. We visit time after time.

I'm glad that I looked on Google Maps to find this excellent little eating place before we came to Petra. You have to be persistent when visiting - 25 min walk along the sea road to Avlaki beach past the Avlaki Taverna, keep going past past the Trasitional Taverna and small harbour and just round the corner is the Caravan by the Sea. On our first visit we had intended to just have a drink but ended up staying for an excellent lunch. The view across to Molyvos with the castle on top of the hill is spectacular. We decided that an evening visit just had to be done and booked a table for the following Friday night.Once again the food was very good and the view even better with both Petra and Molyvos lit up. The owner phoned a taxi for us but after 20 minutes he took us back to Petra in his own car saying that the taxis were busy. I can only suggest that if you are ever staying nearby, visit the Caravan by the Sea, you will not be disappointed.

We visited at sunset and the view was stunning. And above everything the food was delicious, best pork souvlaki I had. Very friendly service, generous portions and at a good price.

We recently visited Nikos taverna. Food was absolutely delicious and staff very friendly. We tried stuffed courgette flowers with feta cheese, taramasalata, greek beans in tomato sauce are superb, Iman,oven baked lamb and of course greek salad. All soooooo delicious. I highly recommend this place.

As good as the food is, it is the staff that make this place worth visiting time and time again. The food could not be faulted and the Saturday night meat on the spit is not to be missed. Each time we visited , we were welcomed like family, promptly seated and served. We would definitely return.

By far the best tasting and presented food we've had on our 2nd trip to PetraThe present a very professional,friendly and genuine Greek welcome that I really enjoyed, the food may be similar to everywhere else but the food is delivered fresh, appetising and you can see how much care and attention has be given to produce such good clean plates of food.We had tuna salad, calamari, pizza, stifado, souvlaki to name a few and all were excellent.We found the White Askitikos dry and fruity and good value at 13 euros The kitchen must have a very competent pair of hands as the food remains consistent. It is also nice to be served by a more mature, relaxed and professional waiting staff who want to please and ensure your visit is enjoyable.Thank you Reef we will definitely be back!

This is our favourite go to eating place.some will say itâs just a grill house. But it is a very very good grill restaurant. The souvlakia is excellent. Try the lamb souvlakia it is most excellent although always very busy the staff are welcoming and friendly very good value. Thank you

This is really worth looking for and booking one of the outside tables, where you can see amazing sunsets. The food is really good, though when itâs busy the service can be slow. We ate twice and had fabulous food on both occasions. The prawns were amazing. Would like to return one day.
