This is a simple local restaurant a few doors down from Hotel Liberia where we had an evening meal at the start of our Costa Rican stay. We had excellent ceviche and chicken Casado with a couple of cold beers. Service was average and prices very reasonable . Would go again.

Service is excellent, with a very nice waiter explaining the place, the food and also helping us get into the spanish-spoken atmosphere. He's also giving very good dishes recommandations !The atmosphere is also nice ; restaurant was full of local families and a dj was mixing well known song while cheering the crowd - perfect for a saturday night. We ordered recommended dishes (grills for 2) and cocktails (Pina Colada - out of fresh pineapple). They are delicious and served in huge quantities ! (Despite trying, we really couldnt finish !)Price is quite low too (from 3-5k CRC for a standard dishes to 11k-13k for double grills or special meals), which makes this restaurant one of the best quality/quantity/price of liberia !Charlotte & Gael
Sr. Patacon is a family owned popular restaurant. We have taken the best locally grown Costa Rican plantain, prepared by our chefs. To bring out the best flavor in preparing Patacone dishes. Daily we select the best produce, choice meats, locally caught se
We were driving from Liberia Airport to Town and feeling hungry, swung into this restaurant couple of miles from the airport. We thought it might be one of those tourist traps but to our surprise, we had the best dinner in Liberia that night. The fajitas and fish dishes were excellent but the fish ceviches was one of the best Iâve eaten. All the small bowls of beans and guacamole were made from plantains and they have generous portions of patacones (plantain croquettes)! The service was excellent and they kept the place open after closing until we were done. We will try to eat here again !

Trying to review their restaurant in Liberia.
As you arrive into Costa Rica via Liberia Airport, after you get your rental car, do not miss La Choza de Laurel. It was recommended to us by National Rental Car when we picked up our SUV and it was fabulous. The fruit drinks are incredibly wonderful and so appreciated after our long flight from NYC. The menu has a large and varied selection so our party or five easily found something to each of our likings. I had the volcano rice platter and loved it. This is a place not be missed and a great way to start your Costa Rican adventures!

We are a family restaurant, ran by my mom(manager) and I (chef). We use traditional french, italian, thai, and peruvian techniques, with local produce and flavors. We are always learning, please share your comments with us.
Ordered starters as mains as portion sizes in Costa are a bit to much for me - Ceviche and bruscheta - both delicious. The rest of the group chose mains and all dishes were great. Wonderful fresh juices especially the lemonade and basil. Nice change to sit on really relaxing comfy chairs. Good value for money and spotless toilets.

This seems to be a family run restaurant which is exactly what we were looking for. This type of restaurant is referred to as a SODAS in Costa Rica. We were the only English speaking people in the restaurant. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Very good meats and fish. You can clearly tell they want to please us and they did. If we return to the area we would definitely return. Don't be fooled by the way it looks from the outside. It is a local roadside restaurant that should be near the top of your list for this area if you want genuine local cooking.

Those were my husband's exact words! I couldn't believe how pleased all our friends were as we accidentally stumbled on to this small but accommodating spot. Exhausted from a day of running around and shopping in the city, we happened upon El Patio. First we all ordered a different flavored smoothie and they were at a good price, huge and delicious! The service was relaxed and not hurried but not slow either. The food again was a fair price for a good portion and very flavorful. Well, you know my husband's opinion, best fish he's ever had! Check it out if your off shopping in the city. If your not familiar driving in Liberia, try downloading first the app Map.me and it should help you find all your shopping needs! Pura Vida!

Had lunch here with friends who own another top rated restaurant in town. The restaurant is open air and stark, but clean and comfortable. Ordered coconut shrimp and fried calamari as appetizers. Both were excellent. All of our entrees were delicious and we'll prepared. Service was friendly and efficient. If you are looking for a place to mingle with the locals and have an excellent meal, give this restaurant a try.Hello! Thank you so much for taking your time to let us to know your experience visiting Sabor Porteño. For us, is a honor to realize that you enjoyed our food and service. Thanks for coming. Hope you come again soon and try more of our delicious plates.God bless you!Best regards,Chef Freddy Espinoza G.

Move all the way here after reading about this place in Fodors and on TripAdvisor. Their website does not mention anything about being closed. But when we got here, it look like the place had been locked up tight for quite some time. Maybe they are closed and rainy season, I donât know. But at least put up some signage, at least put on your website, at least do something to let people know. We drove around trying to figure out if there was an alternate entrance we were just missing something, but nothing. Saludos,Sebastien

We had a mixed meat plate of grilled chicken and beef. It came with french fries and vegetables. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. There was enough on the plate for me and my husband, and enough to take home for another meal. The service was very good. I especially like the decor that gave me that "big city" feel like New York of Chicago. I felt transcended. The restaurant offers live music many nights and you should check to see when they do and join in.Dear Shirley,Greetings from Liberia Social! We are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us in Liberia. Thanks for taking the time to write and rate us. I will share your comments with our team which i am sure they will be very happy to hear that you enjoyed the service, the food, and the ambiance we offered. Hope our paths will cross again. Pura Vida!
