Unfortunatly I was disappointed by the menu and although the servers were lovely and friendly the main meal was quite basic.It was served with a bland sauce over a piece of grilled chicken on a bed of slightly undercooked potatoes. There were no vegetables at all offered No Sunday lunch was on either of the menus I saw.Nice decor just needs a better menu and a more appetising presentation of the dishes.

We recently visited The Alchemist on a Saturday evening. Nice drinks and reasonable main meals. But we were very disappointed with the the social sharing platter for 4 people. Out with friends for a belated birthday dinner. Went to portas across the road first, but there was an hour wait and you're not able to book there. So, a little despondent and hadn't been to Chester for awhile so didn't realise the bluebell was now tapas...lucky! There was only 3 of us and they managed to accommodate us without a reservation. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Particularly enjoyed the pig cheeks (red wine jus was gorgeous) halloumi and green peppers (were just as good as ones I had in Spain few weeks ago!), the rioja was v nice too. Will definitely revisit and probably opt for here over Portas. What a awesome review! Thank you for sharing your experience with us, we really do appreciate hearing such wonderful feedback. We are so pleased that you found us and were able to enjoy your Birthday celebrations over our cooked to order tapas and delicious bottle of Rioja.We look forward to having you back with us when you are next in Chester x
