This is a super restaurant on the shores of the lake and with wonderful views. We stopped by here for lunch and had gorgeous reasonably priced food served with local wine. The menu and wine list offer something for everyone and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Rebstoeckle

The restaurant Rebstoeckle was a gem that we found by accident. While strolling down Seestrasse to find a restaurant, we passed many restaurants and read many menus. When we walked by the outdoor tablets at Rebstoeckle, the food smelled and looked delicious. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed inside and felt right at home. The soups and kaese spaetzle were delicious. My husband thought the schnitzel with the homemade sauce (gravy) was so amazing, he wanted to lick the plate. The service was great. The chef's wife (sorry I don't know her name) was very patient and found a menu in English for us. She was so hospitable and sweet to our 10 year old son. She brought a container full of colored pencils and a coloring paper for him to use. She always had a smile on her face. Chef Dietmar is very personable and passionate about his cooking. He came out after completing dinner service and began chatting with the customers. He sat and talked with us, making us feel at home. We enjoyed it so much, this was our favorite restaurant of our trip throughout Germany. We will definely go back when we visit Germany again.

Besides being a restaurant, this places offers also 6 rooms for a pleasant stay in this small city close to Friedrichshafen downtown (around 12km). I stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast included in the tariff. At night, after visiting some Museums (Zeppelin and Dornier) or after attending an Exhibition, it was a pleasure to find a cozy place to have dinner. They also produce their own wines, which I recommend, and being close to the countryside, many of local apples, grapes and peaches are available for sale at reduced prices. Rooms are different in sizes and prices, so make sure about what you are actually booking.

Am Haefele is our lunch destination of choice when we visit Immenstaad each year. The ferry jetty is by a small marina and is approached by a beautiful avenue of tall trees, and at the end there is a quirky fish-shaped bench by a fountain where you can sit and watch the lake. This year is was rather rainy, so we didn't linger outside and ducked straight into the yacht club. The decor is very nautical - wooden tables and chairs, yacht models, stripy cushions. Enjoyed glasses of the new Suser wine and had some small bits to eat - potato soup, sausage with curry sauce and chips, salami salad.

We dined here as we were staying in the hotel (see review). The restaurant offered 3 different menus, each with the choice of a taste of wines, eventually. Portions are not very small. There was also the opportunity to order à la carte and waiters seemed to be accommodating about it. However we chose the menus which are well priced and the food was all good. They serve modern German cuisine and some things were a bit unusual (which is good) but generally ranged from good to very good. I would return.

Restaurant Seehof

Sunday lunch is pretty usual in England but for some reason not so in Germany, so we were surprised to find a restaurant open for Sunday lunch. We had reservations but really didn't need them as, despite the lively setting alongside a marina and quite close to a ferry dock, the restaurant wasn't very busy. Service at first was efficient but completely disappeared by the last course.Portions are large so only order a first course if you're really hungry. Salads were generous but not very tasty despite what should be tasty ingredients. The companion had the steak and cheese spatzle. Despite being cooked medium the steak was tough but the spatzle was under-seasoned. The entree came with a side salad. My dish of lake fish was generous with various fishes from Lake Constance. There were six small fillets, again well cooked but under-seasoned. The dish came with six boiled potatoes and a melange of shredded vegetables that looked like it had been sitting for a long while in a steam tray. Desserts, when we got them, were very good. My macaroon with fresh berries and berry ice cream was excellent tainted by the disappearance of almost every member of the wait staff. We sat for a good 20 minutes before someone patrolled the dining area. Then another 15 before we were able to order coffee and the bill. Can't explain the problem but suspect everyone clocked off at 14,00 despite customers still sitting at tables. If you choose the Seehof for a meal get there early.Thank you for your visit, hopefully you had a nice trip at the Bodensee. Seemed you have chosen the nicest locations around.
