We enjoyed a meal on the terrace. Typical German (or better Franconian) stuff: good schnitzel. The wines by glass we enjoyed are good to very good and sold in 0,25l glasses - which is rather common in zgermany but not where I am from - from good local producers. Fair bill, friendly service and view on the monastery.

The Gasthaus zur Krone offers cooking courses and fine dining. We decided to try it instead of some of our regular haunts. It has the usual advantages and disadvantages of a fine-dining restaurant. We ate there early on a Sunday evening. Normally it is fully booked and crowded, so our timing was good. The menu is rather short, but there was a fish dish and two meat dishes in addition to vegetarian and lighter offerings. I rarely eat beef in Germany, except in very good restaurants. I find the quality, selection of cuts and preparation usually lacking. After asking a few questions about the cattle variety and fat grading, I decided on the Schinkendeckel. However, my wife ordered the steak. The amuse-gueule was a wonderful cream soup and spoke well for the talents of the chef. The bread was crispy and good, but nothing special.When our main courses arrived, we joked about the size of my wife's steak. It looked more like a children's portion. My wife thought the preparation was perfect and found the meat tender. For the 26⬠charged, I expected Prime Grade steak. It had the texture of a Choice Grade steak - good, but not great. My Schinkendeckel tasted great, but was a bit chewy. At 19.50â¬, the portion was a bit small and not worth that price.Water at 4.50⬠is standard and the .25 liter of Bacchus at 4.50⬠was a good choice and good value. Service by the two owners was prompt, courteous and efficient. There is a large indoor dining area and a small terrace. The interior was clean and nicely decorated. The toilets are relatively modern and the towels are cloth, The terrace is a bit cramped, smoke from a nearby table was a constant annoyance, and we had the company of numerous flies. (The modern bug-zapper has been around since 1934.)We found the kitchen of Gasthaus zur Krone excellent, the restaurant comfortable and nicely decorated, the service excellent but the value, even for fine dining, no better than average.

Stopped in this wonderfull little town in Franken for a break and to have lunch.When we found Torbach, we were happy to experience a very nice athmosphere as well as an excellent food and wine selection.The restaurant was very authentic and you could easily imagine turning your clock back a century.So try it if you're in this area.

enjoy the personal reception by the landlord, his recommendations and his jokes and humour(unfortunately only in the local dialect), savour the excellent fish and meats and taste their local wines. the bill will leave you enough to offer the gentle waiters a generous tip. simply enjoy!

It was a long way around to get to Dettelbach due to a closed road (31 Aug), but it was nice to find this restaurant. Here we could eat a very good meal and drink some beer for a really good price. The service in this what appeared to be a family run restaurant was a bit quirky, but the food was fine.

We eat at the Weissen Lamm several times each year. It is always a superior meal. There are two dining rooms on the ground floor decorated in typical Gasthaus style. On the first floor are larger dining rooms used for bigger groups. The restaurant is especially known for its Duck, Goose and Schäufele. We had the latter. What we have noticed on our last few visits is that the portion size is shrinking and the prices creeping up. Still, the meal is filling for non-gluttons and not unreasonably expensive. The service is rushed but mostly efficient.The restaurant offers a good selection of their own wines. They are reliable from year to year, if not among the town's very best. The restaurant has a large and loyal following. Reservations are usually necessary.

Only about a 15 walk into town and with parking available nearby it is ideal for those wanting to visit the town.The room was a little small and quirky. Two single beds diagonally opposite each other as the room was narrow, but had sufficient space for the two of us. Room was clean and although no Aircon had a fan which was good.Breakfast was a good selection of the normal meats, cheeses, fruits, breads jams etc and the platters were replenished when they ran low. Staff very helpful, even showing us to the garage over the road so we could park the motorbike.

We were on our way back to Wurzburg after some wine tasting and stop at this very small and traditional Gasthaus for lunch. Not much English spoken but with the help of a very gracious hostess and some of the other diners, we had a great lunch. One dish featured the mushrooms that were just then in season, the other was a ragout of wild boar and vension, each priced at around US$10!

Rustical flair, polished white wood tables without cloth, very well decorated rooms in charming country style. Service informal and effective. Excellent regional food. I had a very tender and tasty ox cheeks, with fried dumplings and broccoli. Good Franconian house wine and very reasonable prices. Make sure to make a reservation! the place is well visited.

If you are visiting the small medieval village of Dettelbach, you should try to eat in the "HimmelstoÃ". You should reserve a place, especially when it's not during summer, because there are not many places in the restaurant. You will find really good Franconian food with a better quality than in most of the places in the destrict of Kitzingen.The prices are also higher, but the quality justifies it.Also make sure to drink the wine of the owners vineyards.
