Best European food near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Discover Restaurants offering the best European food in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

As the title says I love this restaurant! The food is excellent. I highly recommend the Chkmeruli - it's easily the best chicken dish I've ever had in my life! And an introduction to Georgian cuisine must include Khachapuri. It's a Georgian signature. Plus this place is the only place in Manitoba where you can have a bottle of Georgian wine - highly recommended. Whether you're a tourist or you live in Winnipeg, you owe it to yourself to try Saperavi.

We had high expectations but were disappointed. The chateaubriand was perfectly prepared but a poor presentation. The service was very sub standard. Slow. Uninspired. The best service we got was from a server assigned to other tables. The seafood platter was mediocre. The French onion soup quite good. The patio was nice with plenty of room between tables. Fits into the category of a life experience but not one to repeat

We have eaten here many times but this was the first time on the patio. What a beautiful atmosphere. Although between two busy streets the patio is surrounded by greenery. Lots of large umbrellas provided shade on a warm sunny day. Our only complaint was the surface of the table was quite stained and could have used placemats to cover some of the marks. There was a band, Papa Mambo’s playing in one corner. All our meals were excellent including lamb shank, beef medallions and the moules. Great service too.

Normally I praise this restaurant but I was surprised the goulash soup that our server recommended was awful. My friend said her chicken soup was only okay. Soups for a large bowl are over $7 plus tax so when I never ate mine I felt it should have been removed from the bill. The chicken schnitzel normally excellent was a tad over done. Next time I will stick with the schnitzel and pass on the soup. The potato salad is very good as well.

Restaurant was highly recommended. We made a reservation before going. We did enjoy our meal-ordered steak tartare, octopus salad and duck for our main. Duck entree was very generous size wise, and cooked perfectly. My husband loved his steak tartare-very flavour-able. While the octopus salad had lots of octopus in it, I found that there was too much dressing and cooked potatoes that made the lettuce wilt under the stress of potatoes and dressing. For my tastes would have preferred no potatoes and less dressing-the octopus should be the star of the dish. However, overall a nice and romantic spot for dinner.
