We were a cycling group, about 30 people so we advance-booked almost the whole restaurant. They dealt with this large group very well and we all got our individual choices promptly. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food itself was very good and we were all served in reasonable timing. The location, in the centre of Okehampton is very good.

Had the five course taster menu on the first night as part of a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Absolutely first class - every course had a lovely twist to it, and there is obviously a commitment to using the best ingredients. Every one of us returned sparkling clean plates to the kitchen - clear demonstration that the food was enjoyed. Having seen the menu and specials board we decided to eat in the hotel again on our second night - something we ordinarily would never do in an attempt to try different places. So glad we did - again, a menu with plenty of variety from the more traditional to the more adventurous - never seen Bobotee (South African cottage pie) on a menu before - and everything stunning. The chef clearly uses the best ingredients and then caters for a wide range of tastes. One of our best meals of all time. Have to mention the really friendly staff too - they were rushed off their feet both nights (a packed restaurant and bar on a midweek - a very good sign), but always were friendly, chatty and clearly happy in their job. Meaning to eat here all summer - booked for sunday late afternoon. Focaccia was tasty, pizza was good, generous portions & lots of meal choices. Cheesecake was very good! Best tasted in a long time. Service was prompt & friendly. Comfortable interior & exterior seating. Will def visit again soon!

Managed to get a table in the very popular gastro-pub on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly and the ale well kept and refreshing. Almost five stars ..... but not quite. The duck dish I had was well cooked and I enjoyed it though in hindsight perhaps I should have had a side dish of something green..... actually great place to eat.... if in Tavistock book in advance!

Came across Taylorâs a bit by accident, but what a wonderful surprise! The staff is most professional and knowledgeable. Interesting bar with mixed drinks, wine and beer. The food is to die for I had a beef brisket and didnât need a knife â some of the best beef Iâve had in a long time. Pumpkin soup and fish dishes all highly recommended by wife. And the âpuddingâ if you are even mildest interest in lemon meringue pie you must order it here.

Dined here eating the tasting menu, we were not disappointed, fantastic food, locally sourced and skilfully cooked. Beautiful presentation and incredible value for money considering the ingredients used and obvious skill shown within cooking and presentation. So much food but I wasnât going to miss a thing, delicious. Thank you.
