We had heard about this resturant and decided to check it out. It was a cold Thursday evening outside and this was also the case inside until the heating was turned up. A small but interesting menu and our waiter who was the only staff member there apart from the Chef was really welcoming and professional. We ordered the Pate to share which was very tasty, smooth and well presented but was so small that it was hardly a dish for 2 people and at close to $20 was overprced. For mains we ordered their signature dish which was a glorified steak burger with fries which was very nice but the sauce called a beer-butter sauce that came with it was disgusting, My wife had the steak which she said was beautiful. So although the food was nicely cooked and presented it was overpriced for what it was.

Visited the restaurant for a Birthday celebration, was using a Grabone voucher. We ordered steaks, both of which were sad and overdone, if you want steak cooked that much, order chicken. Sides were very limited with the meal and included some nutritious green potato chips.Atmospheric music included such hits as - "All Star" by Smash Mouth, appropriate for the movie Shrek (green like our fries), but not for a dining experience.Service was also pretty shocking, we were left waiting to pay for a long period of time (seriously, upwards of 5 minutes). Wait staff did not check on how our meal was and when we did mention that we weren't satisfied with our meals it was shrugged off by the staff.Very lucky we did have a grab one because this place is not cheap, you will have a much better time anywhere else.Your review was quite some surprise as you would see from so many on here that our meals are normally fantastic. Would you be able to contact me directly at [email protected] I would like to communicate with you further regarding this and can only apologise to you at this time.

My wife and I booked for her birthday, it was our second visit so we knew what to expect and the sumptuous food and services we were going to receive.Unfortunately, sadly on this occasion this wasn't the case. We arrived at the restaurant with only another coupe seated, we chose our menu and ordered a cocktail, the first course came and went before our cocktails arrived, apologies made and drinks were received. The night went on, the restaurant filled up and the time between courses became greater and greater up to 30 minutes at times, more cocktails were ordered which took forever and time went on. One of the courses was found to be chewy, my wife pointed this out to the waitress only to be told that that couldn't be right as the rest of the restaurant were eating it and nobody else had complained. To cut a long story short I emailed the restaurant and informed them of our experience, no apology was forthcoming just a 'we'll discuss it in our team meetings'. I would of expected more having spent $353.00 for our meal for two people .Would I go back for a third time..... No. Not because the food wasn't good because its fantastic and delicious , No because the staff are rude, obnoxious and could not care less, we've had your money, so what. Mark EmbertonWhilst we are not at all surprised that you took to a social media platform - such as TripAdvisor, to air your review of our restaurant, we are disappointed that your review is not factual. To that end, we have decided to post our response to your email and your further reply, rather than get into a “he said - she said” disagreement! That way, the public can make their own opinion on who is “rude, obnoxious and couldn’t care less!”Hello Mark I do apologise for the delay in replying as we are closed on Sunday and Monday. Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback from your dining experience on Saturday evening. We appreciate constructive criticism, as we are always trying to improve what we do! The kitchen team will certainly discuss your comments re the crayfish entrée and the other issues you have highlighted will be discussed at our management meeting. Thank you and have a great day. Kind RegardsLeanne WrightLeanneIt was great to get a reply from you. However the only thing you apologised for was the lateness of your reply, not for the poor service or the rude staff, or for the food. You obviously don't take feedback very seriously or the need for customer satisfaction. You obviously don't need my custom in the future.Thank you for nothing.DisappointedMark EmbertonOperations ManagerInterlink Modular - A division of Portacom New Zealand Limited

Decided to give TMR a chance despite the other reviews mentioning the slow service. We were getting a little hungry and more than a little hangry after waiting 70 mins for any food to arrive. Luckily when the food did eventually arrive it was amazing and everyone raved about it. Particularly loved the warm spring salad and the eggplant dish. Would have been 5 stars if service had been quicker but try not to let it put you off.

Have had the chch tram restaurant on my 'bucket list' for quite a while. Finally I was able to try this out the other night. It was truly a lovely evening with wonderful food along with a joyous buzz throughout the tram from other diners. It almost felt like eating on a mini Orient Express! Not that I have been privileged to have dined on that, but that's how I would imagine it to be. Staff were warm and welcoming as well as making sure that everyone's dining experience was an absolute pleasure. This is not only great for tourists, but definitely a worthwhile experience for locals.

We will definitely be back and try their dinner and dessert menu!!Thanks heaps for the fantastic review, appreciated. Will pass on your kind comments to the kitchen crew. Family meal last night in remembrance of our lost son so not a celebration but more a remembrance. Service friendly and very helpful. Ambiance very good. Buzzy for an early Thursday night.Bruschetta was very good and kids well looked after. Major downside was the seafood risottos. Both were disappointing as a large amount of stock had not been absorbed as it should be. Very disappointing. Everything was swimming in stock. In comparison the risotto at No. 4 restaurant, just round the corner, is always excellent and perfection. Try it. No relationship with No. 4.
