Funky little place... Small inside but great friendly service. I was alone and the staff made me feel very welcome indeed. Even chatted about what I had been up to during my visit to Zaandam.I ordered hot chocolate and a bacon cheeseburger with fries.It was fab. Really enjoyed this little place.. funky music.. a lot of cocktails on the menu along with beers and wines.I ate early (around 5pm) so did not soak up the evening atmosphere but I would imagine that ambience is very cool in the evenings.Great little place... recommend a visit for some decent food at a decent price!!Hi Suitcasesally22, Thank you very much for your review :DReviews like this, always makes us blush!We hope to see you again. Not so easy to find a service that is fast in The Netherlands. The Wonder's has a service that is fast and friendly.The food however is reasonable, but the atmosphere is very nice. It's a place to enjoy in the outside tables having a beer in a sunny day. It's located in a nice small square in Zaandam, just a walking distance from the Tsar Peter's house.

Every time I visit Zaandam I come here . Nice historic atmosphere. Typically good food.Very limited bar unless you like beer. WaitressSaid âDutch drink beerâ.... you can forget a Manhattan They always had wonderful classic onion soup. Tonight they changed the receipt. Heavy tomato flavoring. Simply horrible. Mentioned it to two servers and manager : they laughed it off. I guessDutch donât complain about crappy soup.

Service was good, interesting sandwich menu and the food was very good. Very busy and very noisy, not well designed for sound deadening, open ceiling with exposed pipework, all hard surfaces. Echo heaven. Disabled toilet is a disgrace, canât get between the door and the toilet pan.

We were here for a day, and was staying across the street and saw this place here, which seemed to be busy with people eating. The menu looked good and pricing seemed reasonable so we decided to give it a go! We ordered one of those multi course meals and ate outside as it was beautiful weather! Food was delicious - the vanilla ice cream was so tasty and the waitress informed us they order it from an outside place, and it came with this rich chocolate syrup and it tasted SO good. For appetizer, I had thin slices of watermelon with prosciutto and my main course was fish! Everything was delicious and it was a TON of food. If this place was in my hometown, I'd go here again for a special occasion dinner. This place has an English menu and everyone also spoke good English, so it was easy to communicate. Knowing we were tourists, the male waiter offered to take a picture of me and my boyfriend (we didn't even ask) and towards the end of the dinner, we asked for direction help on getting to the airport. There was a female waitress and she was so kind and helpful and looked up the timing of the train for us and directed us for our early flight for the next morning. We also didn't feel rushed with our dinner even though it was getting late and there was only 1 other person dining. We found the train the next morning and made it safely to the airport - thank you so much!Dear miss, THANK YOU for writing this very, very kind review! Above all, we love to read that you enjoyed the food and the service so much. Came here with big group for lunch. Place is big and can house a lot of people. Food was excellent, I loved the cod fish, but service is slow. The restaurant is located in a famous attraction in Zaandam. Although service is slow, but to me, it was worth the wait.

We had tried a couple of other restaurants prior to finding Manzoâs only to be told their kitchens had closed - in fairness this was a Wednesday night at around 9.10pm. Initially we got the same reaction at Manzoâs, but our very helpful server checked with the chef who confirmed as long as we had a choice of burger, ribs or chicken we could eat.We both elected to have the chicken and it was totally delicious. It was served with the ubiquitous and very tasty fries, and asparagus (well cooked and not mushy). The chicken was off the bone and so moist and tasty. Excellent!All the waiting staff, and the chef, were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all a great experience and we will return

Nice little restaurant wich got our hopes up for good service and food. Ordered pea soup and toast. The peasoup was thick like baby-food and could only eat three spoons before i got nauseous. And toast was boring and soooo dry! My boyfriend ordered the toast with Amsterdam-sausage. Maybe its supposed to be that way but it was raw and he did not dare to eat it. So embarrasing to not beeing able to eat their food, but when we said we did not like it, they just said «thats how they make it». Worst breakfast of my life (so far).

Castell is hands down the best steak house in Amsterdam. Okay, so you might find a better place, but only if you are willing to pay three times more. I am a bit conflicted to write a review, as I fear that I would have to wait to get a seat in the restaurant. Their tenderloin steak is incredible, and this is ONE place in Amsterdam where they will actually cook how you order. No medium well steak if you order medium rare. You will actually get medium rare.The white asparagus, while in season, is also a must, with the ham and the special sauce that comes with the dish.Normally, the tenderloin or 'Surf & Turf', with fries and the wine that the owner recommends will do wonders to the culinary experience.The steaks are very tender and flavorful - rarity except in the most premium restaurants. The services are also great, and ambiance of the restaurant is also cozy and elegant. Outdoor sitting is available during summer. Parking is a bit of a pain, as the only parking I'd been able to find is the paid lot across the street. But, worth the pain and the drive, as this is one of the best steak you will find in Amsterdam.
