For an experience with a true Amsterdam icon and legendary food encounter do not pass up this eatery. Worth searching for, but not that difficult to find. Rob has been at this location for 40 years and deserves the reputation he enjoys for amazing seafood and fish choices. A cordial fun loving host, owner, and ambassador for all of the Netherlands. And like he says, if you donât have the pickled herring, why are you here at all ?

Let's call it a cute restaurant. It serves fresh fish, it serves Texel lamb, which was the reason we came. And we were not disappointed. A delicious meal, a memorable meal.We had a great time. One thing to remember, reservations are a must.

The 'olde worlde' decor creates a charming ambience in a traditional Dutch setting, that's pleasant at lunchtime and likely even more delightful and cosy at night.The menu is wide ranging with both traditional and more contemporary choices with both light meals or the full three course a la carte options.The bar is pretty well full service and it's nice to find delicious alternative beers like Texel instead of the omnipresent Heineken!Service is friendly, helpful and polite with menus in both English and Dutch.Prices are very reasonable and reflect good value.Overall a very enjoyable place to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner, or even a snack and a beer on your own!Goedendag, Hartelijk dank voor uw leuke beoordeling. Visited this restaurant for breakfast a couple of times during our Amsterdam trip. Quaint small restaurant with the nicest most gracious staff and delicious breakfast choices. We had the pancake and waffle choices along with the fresh squeezed OJ. Perfect way to start the day. And love their morning song tracks. Highly recommend!

This was the second time that I ate here, and again the wait was very long. Also the staff was sloppy. I normally wouldn't complain about this in a normal restaurant, but for the prices that you pay here you should expect more. The food however was good, but in my opinion not worth the money. Whilst holidaying on Texel, we celebrated our wedding anniversary with our two boys (aged 9 and 13) by introducing them to fine din8ng in Kook Atelier. They were a little nervous beforehand, partly at the thought of experimenting with food and partly because we don't speak Dutch. As we entered the restaurant, any fears were quickly dispelled as our waitress greeted us in excellent English and went out of her way to make us all feel at home. We went for a six course 'surprise' menu, with added amuse bouches. We were not disappointed; every course was made from fresh, local produce and was presented with beauty, style and in one course humour (a delicious seafood dish served in a sardine tin!)The taste combinations were exquisite, with parsley sorbet, served with strawberries in multiple forms, a real surprise hit! The service was also exceptional, the waitress and chef going out of their way to ensure we all got the most out of our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a truly fine dining experience. Thank you. Thank you so much for this wonderfull review, hope to see you again!
