We ate here as a group of 10, at the end of a long week. Delicious food (my steak was perfectly cooked - also had octupus starter and cheese to finish but really everything looked great) and delicious wine with very attentive service and very comfortable surroundings made it the ideal venue. It is a very comfortable place for groups - we were not loud but could hear each other well and did not disturb others. Could not recommend it more highly.

We loved sitting by the chef and nibbling our way through the night. Our first server was a little slack and kept coming after someone else noticed we were waiting to order food or drinks. Would definitely come back again. Love that they keep space for walk ins!

Booked for three for a Tuesday night as had good experience here a year or so ago. On this trip, music was so loud it was nearly impossible to hear conversation at the dinner table. Service was alarmingly casual with staff more interested in each other than diners. Food only so-so. Prices seemed alarmingly high for really very small portions. Wine list good - but markup was high. Disappointing.

Good service and great food. The concept of plates the sit between entree and main is unique in my experience but I think works well. The French Onion risotto was stunning. So full of flavour and texture. I also had the pork belly which looked beautiful and was cooked well but didn't quite hit the mark for me taste wise. My wife had Broccoli and beef, both of which she was happy with although the beef was probably more medium than medium rare it was a lovely cut of meat. The cheese board and the Petite Fours were also well presented and very tasty. I did have to send back a hot chocolate after asking for extra hot the first one was barely luke warm but the second one was good. Maybe showing my age but I do like a table cloth when dining at this level. You cannot fault the wonderful customer service at Cafe Polo. Quick, helpful and very friendly. However, today our meals were a little disappointing. Coffee was the main highlight today.

Celebrated my birthday here for lunch. My husband mentioned this fact as we were seated and the staff beautifully decorated my dessert plate with âHappy Birthdayâ. We had the set bistro menu which was good value and the food was delicious. Whilst it was fine dining, the portions were small but we were still full after 3 courses. The wine by the glass were standard prices that I would expect to pay elsewhere so donât agree with previous reviewer on that issue. Only reason I gave 4 dots instead of 5 was the waiter asked if weâd like still or sparkling water and we asked for sparkling but then were served still. Also it was extremely quiet with 3 tables occupied including us so hope this is not a sign that they are struggling.Thank you Camda for the lovely review we are so glad you enjoyed everything overall. We are sorry that the waiter served you still water rather than sparkling we will make sure all of our staff are pouring from the correct Nordaq taps to ensure this does not happen again. We do hope to see you in the dining room again soon.

Great restaurant found walking round for somewhere to dine. Was busy with most tables full but was accommodated near bar area in fact looking over streetfront. Service was quick and choice of menu and drinks was not to overwhelming. Food was very tasty, well presented and great pricing. Definitely will be going back next time when in Wellington
