Usually, I like the food and service in Cafe Royal in the Theatre Royal, but recently they have made changes in the pre-show operation. Previously, one person provided efficient bar and beverage service. Now there were four behind the counter, one counting and recounting the till. Two completing a clipboard with several sheets and one taking orders for a tea and a coffee. Ten minutes later we got lukewarm beverages and a confusion as to whether I was given a coffee as tea. By then other people were having service problems, and we went into the excellent Jack L show.

Excellent choice of loads of lovely bakes with coffee- little tables in place. Nice options for home cooked catering. Get your car hand washed across the road while you watch and eat cake

I have to say I have been quiet a lot to this little place and never fails...First off the staff are super friendly and nothing is to much effort...They have great little menu something for everyone..My favorite is the Pizza wrap or Goats cheese salad OMG Devine.....If your ever in Waterford for a visit or passing pop in....Sorry I did have picture of the above but must have deleted

What more can you ask for than enjoying gorgeous food and beautiful gardens which grew said food! It's so lovely here and such a fantastic addition to Waterford. The gift shop is a great place to pick up a gift and the staff are all friendly as can be. I've been three times and had vegan food and each time it had been an amazing and unique culinary experience. I haven't found food like it anywhere else in the country! The quality stands out and everything tastes fresh and works perfectly with the other ingredients. It's obvious the chef puts a lot of thought and planning in, as well as the growers. Highly recommend.

My wife suggested we tried here having been delighted on her last visit recently.Seated straight away iced water and menus to follow,very busy for lunches but a great vibe and service was evident. Lunches followed within 5 minutes of ordering, first class in all aspects service food ,presentation cooking all very good .Good price for the food.Next time e I'm in Waterford this is where I'm coming.They do a afternoon tea for two after 3pm at 15 euro looks good.

I have passed Café Lucia on numerous occasions and had thought of it as a takeaway café, so I was pleasantly surprised to find an attractive seating area to the back of the restaurant. Interesting French railway posters decorate the walls, and seating is a mix of open plan and comfortable stalls. Our meal was served promptly by really friendly and efficient staff, and prices are very reasonable. I selected a special of tomato & basil soup with half panini and a little dressed salad, whilst my wife had goatscheese, tomato and salad. Along with great quality coffee the bill came to a total of 24 euro.

I had not been here for quite a while and i was really looking forward to a tea and the amazing coffee cake! Thankfully we looked at the cake selection before we ordered as the cakes were totally different - they changed bakers - i went for a scone instead - which was ok. My daughter asked for a glass of tap water but was told you have to pay â¬1 for a bottle of filteted water but they will refill the bottle free - she said i only want a glass and the tap water is fine by me but they said there had been complaints about the tap water and would not serve it......What was the perfect venue for cakes and tea has changed - very disappointed!

This is an amazing location with a wonderful atmosphere. When you arrive, just sit and look around at the treasure-trove of 1920âs atmosphere. The staff will guide you on the menu to some excellent choices of salads, pizza or sandwiches to go with great coffee (or tea). What a retreat from the hustle of daily life?
