Iâm not going to lie to you. I wasnât a fan of scrabble before. I tried it when it just opened and wasnât impressed. Fast forward a year later and Iâm hooked on their avocado toast. It comes on brown bread, perfectly ripened avocado, fluffy scrambled eggs and garnished with scallions cut on the bias. I ordered extra toast and cheese on the side. Their coffee is amazingly good. The barista clearly knows what heâs doing. Moreover their staff is ultra friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is bright and airy with a whimsical kitschy shabby chic theme. I wish theyâd have more baked goods to go with coffee: muffins, cakes, cookies, scones etc.

Have been going here for years....starting when it was on the Corniche. It is now located in a convenient location, but new one is under renovation back in the old corniche location next to Tammimis. Have only been there for breakfast and love it! Servers are really nice...can get crowded as it is a very popular place. Great bakery products too!! A must!!

Had lunch there today (March, 2018).The four cheese pizza is the best I've had in Khobar. The dough is thin, super light and wonderful. The cheese quantity and balance is perfect. An adult can eat two pizzas. The margherita pizza is good.Grilled salmon in yellow tangy onion sauce is ok.The burger is ok. Its barbeque-like flavor is excellent, but meat quality can be improved.Ambience, cleanliness, service and timeliness are all ok.My main criticism is regarding serving size. I ate three main entrees here today and left the place not completely full. That means value for money, this is one of the most expensive restaurants in Khobar.I will be coming back - can't resist the four cheese pizza, but I'll be ordering two of them along with a third entree and an appetizer.

As usual, the service in the Sky Lounge was superb. My favorite way to âdecompressâ is to enjoy a fine cigar in the lounge. And there is always someone like Neil making sure my visit is a pleasurable event. If you are new to the Sky Lounge, be sure to say hello to one Kempinskiâs newest managers - Sheila. She is going to do well here due to her customer service skills and paying attention to the details. Nice to have her on board.

Iâve been wanting to try Bateel since forever! Today I finally got a chance to go for a late lunch with my buddy. The interiors are cool and contemporary, we were immediately seated by our friendly server Wilson. The menu was interesting and diverse. None of the same old same old local restaurant choices (read dynamite shrimp).The bread basket arrived and it was divine. My favorite was the date walnut bread. We ordered artichoke soup and a shrimp poke bowl. The soup was served piping hot and was simply delicious. The poke bowl needed to be more substantial. We wished we had more greens, more quinoa more pesto. It was fresh as can be but needed to be amped up. Then we opted for sandwiches as mains: club sandwich with bresaola and a chicken zaatar panini. The bresaola club was good. The fillings were plentiful and satisfying even though the eggs/avocado could have used seasoning. Wish it came with fries though. The panini was an epic fail. The bread itself was fresh and soft. The individual components of sundries tomatoes, grilled eggplant and rocca sounded good on paper. The chicken was pale and anemic lacking in any taste with a terrible rubber texture. We were quite disappointed. The manger Ashraf came to our table and listened tentatively to all our remarks insisting he replace it. We were already full so he just took the item off the bill. We then had coffee and dessert ( always room for dessert). The coffee was great. We chose pecan pie, azelia cake and lemon meringue pie. The pecan pie was chock full of nuts but I missed the sticky sweet caramel filling. The azelia cake turned out to be layers of hazelnut streusel, sponge and mousse. Not bad but not my favorite. The star of the show was the lemon meringue pie. The crust was short and buttery, the filling tart and silky smooth and the Italian meringue was a dreamy cloud. Bravo to the pastry chef for a home run!

The best value weekend breakfast you could ask for - 55 SAR (£11) for all-you-can-eat (all day) sweet and savoury dishes and coffee refills. Made fresh to order, you can keep ordering until youâve had enough. I found the savoury dishes better than the sweet - the pancakes in particular were cold and quite dry, but everything else was tasty. Great coffee, really friendly staff and relaxing setting. Also some background music which makes a refreshing change in Saudi!
