Find out what British restaurants to try in Buxton. Buxton is a spa town in Derbyshire, in the East Midlands region of England. It has the highest elevation – about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level – of any market town in England. Close to the county boundary with Cheshire to the west and Staffordshire to the south, Buxton is described as "the gateway to the Peak District National Park". A municipal borough until 1974, Buxton was then merged with other localities lying primarily to the north, including Glossop, to form the local government district and borough of High Peak within the county of Derbyshire. Despite being in the East Midlands, economically Buxton is within the sphere of influence of Greater Manchester. The population of the town was 22,115 at the 2011 Census.

I went here with a group of friends prior to going to the Buxton Opera House and, contrary to some of the reports you might read here, had a delightful experience. The pre-theatre Menu was really lovely which we all enjoyed immensely. The staff were very courteous and tried to be helpful, though they were young and obviously still finding their feet. We were there on the 25th July i.e. the record breaking hottest day of the year and the staff coped extremely well - God only knows what it must have been like in the kitchens, a living hell I would imagine! Nevertheless the food was beautifully cooked, well presented and brought out in good time. Well done to you all!I understand this whole building is under new management and it is being gradually refurbished.

Came across this lovely village and pub by accident! Very warm welcome by the owner and food excellent! The pastry on the leek and lamb pie was the best Iâve ever tasted and the mixed grill was huge, with everything on there! Great place to eat and would definitely return!

Walked in with a large order after struggling to find somewhere to eat (Mother's day weekend). Really fast and friendly service, great portions and great quality. We're only in the area for a long weekend otherwise we'd be back. Highly recommended.

Bacon roll good value but prefer the other cafe I used for breakfast to be honest. Nothing wrong though, as ever itâs personal taste.

Hot, fresh, and well presented. This is a really good cafe to visit-spacious layout, clean facilities, and relaxed ambience. It has a good simple range of food, and friendly service- and very competitive prices.Cafe has a charitable base and the whole enterprise is a credit. Thank you.

Called in for lunch today and ordered the grilled halloumi on toasted ciabatta, it came with salad and crisps .... very nice indeed. The tea tasted a little funny for Earl Grey but palatable. Very friendly and accommodating staff within a lovely ambience. We will return and try their other dishes. Thankyou

Visited one evening for dinner last week whilst staying on a local caravan site nearby. Our experience was not the same as the great reviews we had read about this âaward winningâ pub.The staff and food were very disappointing. The lamb steak was over cooked, the homemade beef lasagne had scarcely any beef in it. Which the waitress argued that the chef said there was plenty in it, rather than listening to a customer and apologising that my daughter had nothing to eat and had to satisfy herself on the garlic bread and bits from her mothers and my own meal. That was the most disappointing thing and showed a real lack of class and care from someone in a customer care related profession.I appreciate it was refunded on the bill but thatâs not the point and not what we went for. We wanted a good dinner.

I visited with a large group for afternoon tea. The students were polite and attentive. The food was very good from sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini quiches, mini pastries and scone, cream and jam. And copious amount of tea or coffee. A guided or audio tour then followed rounding of a very enjoyable visit. Well one to all staff and students
