Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Gouda. Lying about 15 miles northeast of Rotterdam, Gouda is most famous for its eponymous cheese. One of its most prized attractions, De Waag on the town square, was once a weighing house for cheese traders and now features an exhibit detailing the entire cheese making process. Also on the square is the 15th-century town hall, one of the oldest in the Netherlands. On Thursday mornings during the summer, the town’s Markt turns back into a traditional cheese market, something not to be missed.

I've been here for lunch with my mom.First good point: menu is available in dutch and english, but if you aak the guys they can look for italian, spanish and french menus. We took two bagels (I don't remember which ones, but it doesn't matter, every bagel is so good) and a bottle of water, for a total of 17.60 euros. If you can, avoid water and prefer something more ingeresting to drink...water is very expensive compared to other drinks. The girls are very nice and kind.Personally, I love the atmosphere of this place!P.s. I didn't know, now you can find here also grasshoppers and others!

We went here after the cheese market. Everyone working there was friendly and the "actors" in the cheese market all came in afterwards for drinks. They have a pretty good cheese soup and bitterballen, yum!

The cheese market is held every Thursday. It is what the locals do to entertain the tourists. The demonstrations given show how cheese was bought through clapping if hands with the buyer. Everyone is wearing colourful traditional dress. The market place is vibrant with chimes from the town hall clock makes for a wonderful experience. After walking around the square we decided where to have a coffee. The coffee was excellent and accompanied with traditional apple pie and cream. The place was so good we doubled back later for lunch picking a prime spot to people watch at the same time. The Gouda soup was perfect. It came with a couple of pieces of bread and ordered with a glass of wine and local beer. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. Our waitress spent time taking to us and we never felt rushed. It was very laid back. Two American tourist sat at the next table discussing what they should order. I suggested the Gouda soup. They were of course delighted. One not to be missed. Now how do you make it?

We were met by a friendly waitress and promptly seated. Our drinks order taken and served pretty quickly. They have a great variety of meals to chose from and we all opted for the â¬25 special where you get a starter, main and dessert. Excellent value for money and the food was really great. We didnât have too long to wait for it either. Suggest if you eat here to go a bit earlier than normal eating time as it is very popular.

Early on a September Saturday evening the old-fashioned interior was already full but luckily it was still warm enough to eat outside, with a good view over the market square. The cheese soup, with bits of bacon, celery etc, was very good but also very filling, which slightly spoilt my enjoyment of the traditional pan-fried mussels and chips which followed. Perhaps I should have gone for the pear and blue cheese salad which my wife had and which would have been a lighter option. We were told that we could have extra portions of chips for free but we were too full for that. Never mind, the food, a couple of beers and watching the world go by made for a very pleasant evening. By the way, noted that they stopped serving food at 8.30pm.
