Reviews on Austrian food in Gamlitz, Styria, Austria. Gamlitz (Slovene: Gomilnica) is a municipality in the district of Leibnitz in Styria, Austria. In the first known document that mentions it (dated from 1145), the settlement is called Gomilnitz, a reference either to the Slavic gomilca which denotes a small hill, or to gom (a group or chain of hills); indeed Gamlitz is situated among and between rolling hills. The tradition of the local castle goes back to the year 1111.

Ratscher Landhaus is a small hotel and restaurant on the South Styrian Wine Road surrounded with vineyards. The perfect location on the oldest and probably most famous wine route in the region invites you to visit numerous wineries and local restaurants.
Looking for a place for a warm dinner in the area? Have a look at this place. The food is simply excellent, the wine menu is impressive. There is also a good playground outside for the kids. Strong recommendation

We came for early dinner with our 2,5 yo daughter. Service was good and our waitress spoke very good English. They even had English menu. High chairs for kids are available. We had pumpkin soup which was big and fantastic. The backhendl (local speciallty, deep fried bread crumbed chicken) was bit dissapointing. But this is our favorite Styrian dish so we have high expectations. Reasonably priced.

After a wonderful day in the vineyards of Styria, we had worked up an appetite and stopped here for dinner. It was great!Ordered an array of platters covering cheeses, sausage, various meats, vegetables, spreads and wonderful breads. It was a delightful meal and was coupled with awesome Austrian wines. Finished it off with some fine Austrian pastries.Ate outside at a big table and the weather was awesome and the scenery amazing.Had excellent service from the moment we entered. Excellent Austrian food!

Me and my wife came here for the day in the sun, eat the standard brettlejaus and sampled the wine as always. The waitress was very attentive and was very quick to deliver the food when it was ready. The restaurant was so full that the food took so long to come but also this could be a reflection on the kitchen itself. From what I could tell myself it was a pleasant balance. The food was perfectly acceptable. The main highlight for me was the red wines from the vineyard, the zweigelt had such a nice body and texture I bought a bottle for the coming winter.Worthwhile to visit if just for the wine tasting.

This place has it all. Many restaurants in the area have great views but what makes this one different is the looooong menu (seriously, this is the larges menu we have seen in a restaurant of this type) and fantastic selection. The prices are higher than the usual average but it is worth it. We had meat mixed platter and gelly of chantirels (muschrooms) plus desert (chestnut tiramisu). All delicious and big. As plus, they have changing tables and even kid´s toilet seat!Note: this is traditional buschenschank - ie. type of restaurant that does not service hot food. You don´t even get coffee here!Look forward to coming back in summer. The terrace looked inviting.

We have been now two days in a row for lunch at the weinbank. Outstanding good food and comfortable service. We were welcomed although we came with our 3 months old baby - which in some restaurants seemed to be a problem. The food is definitely worth every cent you pay.We can recommend the place - we haven't tried the restaurant, only the Wirtshaus which is already delicious

Before coming here should note that this is restaurant not a buschenshank, however this doesn't detract from the great food served here. The menu is small and compact with a few good choices, we had the backhendl for 3 with 3 salads. The whole food was really good quality and tasted great. The wine is s selection from the local wineyards which are in a 1km radius of the restaurant.

Pour 13⬠on a un menu complet, sans les vins. La qualité des aliments est correcte. La quantité bien. C'est un restaurant moyen pour la Slovénie (pourrait être moins cher, ou de meilleure qualité).
