Corozal Town is located about 84 miles north of Belize City, and 9 miles from the border with Mexico. The population of Corozal Town, according to the main results of the 2010 census, is 9,871. Corozal was a private estate before becoming a town in the 1840s, mostly settled by Maya Mestizo refugees from the Caste War of Yucatán. Much of the town was built over an ancient Maya city, sometimes known as Santa Rita; this may have been the original Pre-Columbian town called Chetumal. Corozal Town was badly damaged by Hurricane Janet in 1955, and was substantially rebuilt afterwards.

The location is nice, overlooking the bay. The wait staff were attentive and niceMy wife and I stopped in for something cold to drink, on a hot afternoon. There was a nice blend of locals and expats. It was great for a drink and a chat.

Almond Tree Restaurant and The Turtle Bar are located at the Almond Tree Hotel Resort South End Corozal on the water. If you want a quiet place to meet for drinks and appetizers or for that special occasion. We have the Ambiance like no other in Corozal.

We stayed at the Almond Tree Resort for 3 days and from the first meal which was the lobster, we knew we didn't have to find anywhere else to eat. We just wanted to further explore the offerings at this restaurant and bar. Wilson is the charming owner/chef and his painstaking attention to detail is evident whether he is garnishing a drink or preparing your meal. The menu is quite large and varied for breakfast, lunch and dinner and prices (in Belizean dollars) are reasonable. We were in Corozal on personal business and hadn't planned on returning but now we hope we have another opportunity to both stay and eat at The Almond Tree. Thanks again!Thank you soooo much Sandy and Bev. Wilson is doing a great job running the restaurant and bar as his own. He does take great pride! He will love reading your response. It was great having you both staying with us. We look forward to seeing you again!

They are only open 4 pm to 9 pm but these 2 young men make excellent burgers. They have chicken or beef burgers and you can get them with or without the habanero sauce. The fries are also good and the veggies on the sandwiches are always fresh.This a take out place but they have tables outside where you can eat.
