Corozal Town is located about 84 miles north of Belize City, and 9 miles from the border with Mexico. The population of Corozal Town, according to the main results of the 2010 census, is 9,871. Corozal was a private estate before becoming a town in the 1840s, mostly settled by Maya Mestizo refugees from the Caste War of Yucatán. Much of the town was built over an ancient Maya city, sometimes known as Santa Rita; this may have been the original Pre-Columbian town called Chetumal. Corozal Town was badly damaged by Hurricane Janet in 1955, and was substantially rebuilt afterwards.

Ate there three times during a recent stay in Corozal. Patty's is the place to go for very good local food, prepared lovingly, and served quickly in a pleasant setting that has the added benefit of being air conditioned. The conch soup was exceptional and we enjoyed the ribs and the baked chicken.

We stayed at the Almond Tree Resort for 3 days and from the first meal which was the lobster, we knew we didn't have to find anywhere else to eat. We just wanted to further explore the offerings at this restaurant and bar. Wilson is the charming owner/chef and his painstaking attention to detail is evident whether he is garnishing a drink or preparing your meal. The menu is quite large and varied for breakfast, lunch and dinner and prices (in Belizean dollars) are reasonable. We were in Corozal on personal business and hadn't planned on returning but now we hope we have another opportunity to both stay and eat at The Almond Tree. Thanks again!Thank you soooo much Sandy and Bev. Wilson is doing a great job running the restaurant and bar as his own. He does take great pride! He will love reading your response. It was great having you both staying with us. We look forward to seeing you again!

A friend took me to this restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We met some locals, other travelers, & enjoyed every morsel we ate. There is a bar within the restaurant, yes you can bring the kids, and the view of the ocean is awesome. Bay Breeze is the perfect name for the place. We went back again later & took our time, we liked it so much. A really comfortable place to stop for a bit.

After arriving in Corozal we wanted somewhere close to eat and this was next door to where we were staying. You can sit out on the deck over the water and enjoy the ocean breeze while enjoying their great food. Between the 4 of us we had fish, chicken and pasta. All our meals were very good.

We got into Corozal town on a Monday night, and it seemed like just about every place was closed. It looked like we were going to get shut out. Then we stumbled onto Club 5th Avenue. The owner is a really warm, engaging, friendly guy, and even though they had spent all day hosting a poker tournament (the poker tournament was over at this point), they were still willing to serve us food. We ordered conch ceviche and fried shrimp, and both were excellent! The ceviche was tangy with lime and loaded with conch, exceedingly fresh and in a very generous portion. The owner also brought out his homemade habanera sauce to share with us, which was spicy and delicious and brightened everything! Outstanding! The fried shrimp were also good and came with french fries. We split it all between the two of us, and it was a wonderful seafood feast. We washed it down with a few mixed-to-order rum drinks from the exceptionally well-stocked bar. All in all, we feel this is a true hidden gem in Corozal, with fresh seafood, really nice people, and strong, delicious rum drinks. Would definitely go back when in Corozal.
