Placencia Resorts | Places to Stay in Placencia

May 2, 2023 Flossie Demartino

Once a sleepy fishing village, Placencia has emerged as an increasingly popular eco-destination on the Caribbean. For those who enjoy outdoor adventure, the Stann Creek region offers a host of activities: hiking through mountainous rain forests, kayaking, deep sea fishing, diving and exploring Mayan ruins. The peninsula boasts 16 miles of tranquil beaches, with a lagoon to the west and the Caribbean to the east and lots of peace and quiet in the middle. Tour guides and dive centers offer a variety of excursions, with boat rides to the outer cayes an ongoing favorite. Also popular are guided land tours to Mayan Ruins or trekking the jungle trails of Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, where the first Jaguar Reserve in the world was established.

Turtle Inn

Luxury and unspoiled beauty on the Caribbean Sea. Turtle Inn is a true labor of love. Less than a year after Francis and Eleanor Coppola acquired this beachside refuge in 2001, it was swept out to sea by the forces of Hurricane Iris. Turning disaster into triumph, the Coppola's led a two-year reclamation project, creating a magnificent resort that is consistently ranked among the best in Central and South America. This 28-room seafront hideaway combines natural wonders with luxury style. Accommodations are in individual thatched cottages, decorated with handcrafted Balinese furnishings and naturally cooled by the ever-present sea breezes. Just steps beyond your private deck, the beach dissolves into the Caribbean Sea. In addition, the resort has two infinity swimming pools, a spa, dive shop and three restaurants.

Our stay at Chabil Mar exceeded our expectations!

We enjoyed a family vacation for six at the Chabil Mar Resort – every day, of our week visit, was a great day! The staff helped us find the very best guides and outfitters for our daily outings that included snorkeling, horseback riding, fishing, swimming in waterfalls, and visiting the Howler Monkeys & Mayan Ruins in the rainforest. Every staff member at the Chabil Mar had a sense of joy as he or she went about serving the guests – it felt great on the receiving end! Our accommodations were especially clean and very comfortable. The beds, linens, robes, towels were luxurious to the feel. Having a washer and dryer in our unit was an unexpected convenience that helped us daily after our water sports! The Family Package, offered by Chabil Mar, drew our attention during the research process of planning our vacation. The all-inclusive approach was very appealing to our family. We had a kitchen for convenience but ate anywhere we chose on the property including our own kitchen table! We could go on and on – it’s a beautiful property with a delightful staff! Go see for yourself – it’s worth it!

Well kept in with great staff. We had a rental car and there is parking right out front of the property. The on-site restaurant and bar are both good. No air conditioning in our cabana, but the ocean breeze is cool enough so we were comfortable. Would recommend if you are looking for a place in Placencia.

We had the cutest cabanas right on the beach. The beach was beautiful and well maintained and they have the cutest swings in the water. The restaurant had the best drinks and food. We ate almost every meal there because it was so good. The best part was the staff!!! You truly feel like family from the moment you arrive. They all knew our names and they were always smiling and happy to see us! Sylvia is just precious. Cedric is always dancing and saying oh yeah. I would highly recommend NOT staying here under any circumstances

Reviewed By Wolverine154

Where to begin! First it is NOT called Alan's Paradise Hotel. And thus it was next to impossible to locate & Hotels.com only gives it GPS coordinates which is stupid-it is ON Sunset Pointe Rd. It is called Paradise Resort-which is beyond hilarious. Why? Because, on any level whatsoever, this is NOT a resort. It is perhaps a hotel or an inn. False advertising for sure regardless of it is on the water (not on a beach) and has a pier & some kayaks & a restaurant. Sounds like they have gotten this approach from the idiot alleged "resorts" back in the US that call themselves a resort if they have only a pool, a restaurant AND a spa-that is NOT a resort on any level either. Anyway-and I am trying to be nice-this is can be described as perhaps a shabby chic dump that is COMPLETELY surrounded by local shacks in squalor w/barking dogs & my window curtain wasn't dark at all so I had to wear an eye mask to sleep & you have to park your car about 500 yards away. It is super old. Rooms are tiny. Even though there are at least 12 or so rooms, the staff is only on site from 8-1 & 5-8 or 9 & allegedly you have to call them if you have an issue but that would be impossible without a local Belizean phone #. The wifi is terrible-my whole stay it went on & off pretty much every 10 or so minutes or more. The cable has an absurd amt. of channels including some incredibly obscure ones that ALWAYS worked yet the major US networks (ABC/Fox/NBC/CBS) would cease up the whole time. Avoid at all costs.

Great place to stay in the heart of Placentia!

Reviewed By Flyer507714

This is a wonderful place to stay in Placencia. Located on the beach with a wide range of room types available. The rooms are all nice with a/c, TVs and internet. The pool area is really nice. The people running the Miramar are exceptional. The property including the beach area is regularly cleaned. If you have a concern it is immediately addressed. The property is located on the beach but there are three separate buildings with rooms. Not all rooms are on the ocean side or directly by the pool. Just make sure you clearly understand where your room is located - the rooms directly on the beach are the more expensive obviously. But all rooms are fine. The location is really close to the heart of town with lots of good places to eat.
