Restaurant - mediocre food and service at Silvester

Reviewed By artempan

Visited this restaurant for a New Year (Silvester) dinner on a last-minute reservation. We were first seated in an empty entrance hall far away from the crowd, that didn't look promising for a festive dinner. After a 20-min wait and a whole lot of waiving, a waitress finally came over, we ordered drinks and asked if it's possible to move us to another table given that several tables in the main hall, where all the action was taking place, looked empty. Denied. Luckily, the restaurant manager was a much friendlier person who moved us to the main hall without a problem. Unfortunately, the food on the Silvester menu was rather disappointing (e.g. deep-fried greasy spare ribs covered in breadcrumbs ... seriously?); definitely below the par compared to every other restaurant we tried in Berwang.

Welcoming small hotel

Reviewed By JWN1942

Have just returned from spending three nights at this pretty, small hotel. After parking our car in the car park at the front of the hotel we finally found the main entrance situated at the back of the building. There is also a small amount of parking outside the main entrance. We received a very friendly welcome and were quickly shown to our room. The room was of a good size and contained a small seating area. The room was as is the rest of the hotel spotlessly clean with traditional furniture. We had booked just bed and breakfast but did enjoy an excellent evening meal on our last night at the hotel. A nice touch was the tea and cakes provided to all guests every afternoon. I do have a couple of negative points about the hotel though. On arrival at the hotel I decided to change out of the outfit I had travelled in and imagine my surprise when in my half dressed state I saw a man standing on the balcony outside of our room. Apparently four rooms share one long balcony, without any separation.. The balcony doors to the two end rooms being at an angle which meant as soon as the guests in the room next to ours walked out onto the balcony they could see straight into our room. If they wanted to sit on the balcony they had to sit directly outside of our large window. This meant we pretty much had to keep the curtains closed the whole time , a real shame as the views from our room were lovely. The weather was very hot during our visit and the polyester duvet covers really didn't help us keep cool, cotton would have been better. The TV was a flat screen, though so small it was hard to watch from the beds opposite. If I could have a room with a private balcony I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It's a lovely small hotel, in a wonderful position, spotlessly clean and quiet with very friendly personnel. I would have like to give the hotel 3 1/2 stars, it's worth more than three but not quite four.

We've booked for 4 nights, the room was perfect, breakfast and dinner excellent ( 4 dinning offers, one of them vegetarian, to eat). The staff were very friendly and it was a very good athmosphere. The hotel is in the middle of the village and so we could walk to the skiing place from there without taking our car every time. There we had a box for our skiequipment. We are shure, to come again, thanks for the fine service.

A lovely guesthouse in a pretty village

Reviewed By richardknipe2017

This guesthouse is fitted out to the highest standards and well maintained. The flowers decorating the balconies are beautiful. Breakfast is very good with the best rolls we sampled in a 2 week holiday. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. To us the small village of Rinnen is a nicer place to stay than the larger village of Berwang nearby.

Owner is a Berwanger

Reviewed By Thomas B

Professional travel writer here compelled to write my first TripAdvisor review after 9 years. Driving from Munich to Zurich my boyfriend and I were looking for a cute spot to overnight en route in the Bavaria / Ostschweiz /Tirol region. Based on its scenic location and "room with balcony" offer, we opted for Zugsptizblick in Bewang. We arrived mid-evening (8pm) with advanced warning and were told that the key would be left in the room door - as it was - no problem. Unfortunately our room had no balcony (not the end of the world but its what set the property apart) so I dropped an email to the owner which received no response. When i mentioned it to his mother casually at breakfast the next morning, I was met with a comically passive-aggressive attitude of (in German) "If it was so important to you, you should have arrived earlier as we give the your room to whoever arrives last". Nice! When the owner did finally get his arsch in gear with a response, he ignored the details of our booking confirmation, said we were actually lucky we didn't receive a 2 X €15 surcharge for a late check-in and echoed Mutti's sentiments from above. A completely avoidable scenario with a simple hands-up apology. More hospitality, less hostility in future, bitte. Thomas Breathnach
