Gorgeous studio accommodation with a romantic feel

Reviewed By Wendy1241

As travellers who prefer to stay near the coast, we found this accommodation exceeded our expectations. The studio was bright, clean and tastefully decorated, with a large spa bath, pretty views of the sea from the dining area and bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. Loved the attention to detail. It had everything we needed, including a generous sized container of good quality plunger coffee (a must have with no cafe nearby!) There is a guest garden with seating that overlooks Ohiwa and the coast down towards Opotiki. We enjoyed a glass of wine there in the evening, taking in the spectacular views. As the studios are on a hillside property, there is quite a steep driveway and a few steps to negotiate, but all worth the effort! Opotiki is approximately 10 minutes (beautiful) drive away. We would love to stay there again sometime and can’t recommend it highly enough!

Athenree Hot Springs & Holiday Park is your family park of choice. Located in New Zealand's sunny Bay of Plenty region, at the northern end of Tauranga Harbour. Our all-season Athenree accommodation has a tranquil, park setting with magnificent mature Puriri trees and an abundance of native birds. Great memories are created and a relaxing holiday for the whole family is guaranteed, as well as the family dog (except over our peak Christmas period). There are many activities in the area and we offer several great accommodation options for you to choose from. We have spacious 2-bedroom Motel Units and Deluxe Chalets available (each with Freeview, SKY and Netflix), also Standard, Deluxe and Dog friendly cabins (share park facilities) and we certainly don't compromise on space for camping with our range of tent and campervan sites. Our two Natural Thermal Mineral Pools are free for our guests to enjoy. The pure thermal water feels silky and soft on the skin and is perfect for relaxing in after a long day sightseeing. There is a continuous flow of spring water in the pools, creating bubbles to help soothe away any aches. Both pools are drained and thoroughly cleaned daily so you can be guaranteed a special experience in our chemical free pools.

Great service spacious clean unit

Reviewed By PatMacnz64

These new units are great so clean spacious and the beds are so comfortable, the water pressure in the shower is great and there is ac as well as free wifi and parking in front of the unit. We stayed 2 nights and at the back of the room there is a patio, and a grassy area to relax on as well as some alpacas or chickens to feed. There is also a place to recycle which is great as well as a playground for the children to enjoy. The tv is a flat screen and it has youtube which is great for all the family even bring a USB to plugin with your own movies. The greeting on arrival makes you feel welcome and right at home, we stayed in a deluxe king unit and we were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to find this place, this is more than a lodge its a motel and well worth the price, housekeeping is doing a great job keep it up. We will definitely be back to stay., it's close by to the shops in either direction, we stayed in unit 18 and it was very relaxing.

Great family stay

Reviewed By RidiculousSillyName

We had a lovely stay with Debbie and Tim, who went out of their way to make it a great experience. We had the family room with a very comfortable and homely lounge/mini kitchen adjoining and a good bathroom. As there is no tv the kids had a great playing board games and enjoying each others' company. The glowworm walk was very exciting and we had a great walk around the fam and bush in the daytime too, with Tim sharing his extensive knowledge. I would highly recommend this experience to get Kiwi kids out into nature and off screens! Wonderful stay and very close (15/20mins?) to Tauranga for beach/city time if needed. Wonderful breakfast and Debbie's home baking!

Our room with a great view was beautifully appointed and spacious .A tranquil setting we sat outside on arrival enjoying a beverage with a view over the grape vines to the water exchanging stories and a tour of the cellar. Pre Dinner drinks we shared with Bevan their delightful 90 year old neighbor with his fascinating yarns. Dinner was a real treat thanks to Kay's Fabulous cooking and Trevor in charge of the wine made for a special evening and lots of laughter. Breakfast cooked by Trevor offered all the delights you could wish for. We cant rave enough about Matahui Lodge, nothing short of an amazing stay.
