Ate here at lunchtime on a summer's day and sat on the patio. Food and drinks reasonably priced. Wiener Schnitzel was good, as were the Debreziner sausages. The beers are excellent, as would be expected.

lets be clear, i am a beginner skier, so please read my remarks in that context!Rossfeld skihutte is the restaurant on the Rossfled ski area just outside Berchtesgaden. this review is of both the ski area and the restaurant we were there this year, 2016, Jan, which was bad timing as there was very little snow anywhere in the south of Germany.having said that, Rossfeld was open for the days before we left, so we did get to ski.the slopes range from beginner ( never skied), to intermediate ( can ski, but far from expert). i don't think there are any advanced runsthe runs are quite short, but well prepared, and the lifts are in good condition.there is a small restaurant where you can leave your bags and stuff while you ski, at no charge.(they don't take responsibility for it, you just leave it under a bench, but it seems to work ok)the lifts are all t-bar type, and you can buy several types of tickets ( actually cards).the best for beginners is a points-card, as it can be used over several days, and as a beginner you dont go up and down that much in a day ( you spend a lot of time falling!)once you can ski, a day-card may be better.there is no ski shop on the piste, and no other ski facility- its not a resort, just a series of lifts, but there is a doctor and rescue staff if needed.there is a bus from the Hauptbahnhoff (main train station) in Berchtesdgaden to Rossfeld every hour, so even if you dont have a car you can get there and back- just check the last bus time ( 16h15) as its a LONG walk back if you miss it!i think the bus only goes to the top in winter when the lifts are working- in summer i think it stops some distance from the top (not 100% sure about this, but the timetable seems to say that).so- Rossfeld is great for beginners and intermediates, and those who dont ski can sit in the restaurant, but there is nothing else there, and advanced skiers wont be challenged at all.the restaurant is cute, and serves basic comfort food to skiers between runs. i cant imagine that one would go there is winter just to eat, and i have not been there in summer, so i dont know about that, but as a place to have a meal and thaw out while skiing, its great.very friendly staff, nice hot food and drink.

We enjoyed our lunch here. The service was very efficient, and the good was exactly as we ordered. Delicious pork, sausages and other Bavarian menu items. The still water we ordered was unfortunately not chilled or from a bottle which was disappointing though.Very handy location if you are visiting the Eagle's Nest.

After visiting the amazing Haus Der Berge museum, we went for lunch at the restaurant next door. The waitress was very welcoming & spoke good English. She was very helpful selecting something suitable for our gluten/dairy intolerant son. The menu is very interesting showing lots of other local businesses, delicacies etc. Most of us had soup which was lovely. The view from the balcony is fantastic & the inside very homely.

Visited this restaurant based on tripadvisor rating. It was a lovely experience. Good German Food, well cooked and portions that warrant taking along some foil or cling film for the inevitable doggy bag. We went on a Sunday Lunchtime and were treated to an impromptu Oompha Band - well worth a detour.

After visiting the Salt Mines, my family and I walked along the river to expressly have a dinner at this restaurant. I have read the reviews and was looking forward to having a pleasant experience. Unfortunately we got caught in the rain on the way and even though we used our umbrellas, we got soaked. As we walked in, a skinny man at the bar totally ignored us. After a while I spoke up and politely asked if the kitchen was still opened, to which he shrugged his shoulders, said he did not speak English, and pointed to a table. At that moment I wished we could turn around and leave, but my grandson was hungry. We speak a little German, so we ordered 2 beers and a lemonade. We looked over the confusing menu, all in German, and then my grandson found a piece of folded paper on the table, which listed the daily specials and on it was Hungarian goulash and fruit dumplings. At that moment an angel walked in and kindly asked us in English what we would like to eat. We gave her our order and about 15 minutes later we could enjoy a nice hot goulash with a mountain of spaetzle and fruit dumplings, one filled with strawberries and one with apricot, we would have welcomed a third dumpling, as they were not big. The lady said she makes everything herself, so I presume she was the owner and I hope that the sour-faced man who did not greet us was only a staff member. His insulting attitude cost this restaurant 2 stars and we will never return.

High in the Bavarian Mountains is this Guesthouse that serves really exceptional food, prepared by a chef who infuses a combination of herbs and spices that is unique. Rarely have I tasted such dishes and fellow guests all agreed. The friendly and attentive service was also excellent.
