I found this place by chance. It was my first night ever in Germany; a business trip brought me to Deggendorf for a much too short stay. The Stadtplatz seemed like a good place to start, and I chose the Goldener Engel because it looked good Not speaking German myself, my waitress was wonderful by speaking English as well as she could (she knew enough and pantomimed the rest!), and then found a menu for me translated into English. She was able to recommend traditional fare I'd like and special beer. Her help was perfect.I thoroughly enjoyed everything. Food was hot, beautifully presented, plentiful and delicious. (I had a venison platter.) The special "cloudy" Arcobrau was so good I had to have another. A gentleman who had lingered at a table nearby with his friends came over and, in broken English, introduced himself and welcomed me to Deggendorf.I left after I, too, had lingered to soak in the ambiance. I left satisfied, full, happy and glad to have made unexpectedly made new friends. I may never have a chance to return to this part of the world, but I hope I do. I promise to enjoy another meal at the Goldener Engel if I can and hope this review might encourage someone else to give it a try.

Wir waren im Anschluà unserer Wanderung durch das Isarmündungsgebiet hier im gemütlichen, gepflegten Biergarten und waren sehr zufrieden. Hier war es nicht so überfüllt wie im benachbarten Biergarten. Der Wirt bediente uns schnell und sehr freundlich. Die bestellten Apfelküchlein mit Eis und Sahne waren der Hammer! Der Preis von 4,90⬠unschlagbar! Die Gaststube wirkt gemütlich und ist mit älterem, doch zum Gebäude passendem Mobiliar ausgestattet. Die Toiletten sind neu renoviert, sauber und schön. Der kostenlose Parkplatz ist gleichzeitig gegenüber. Vielen Dank!

We had an enjoyable and leisurely meal of Bavarian food in the outdoor courtyard area at the back.There are a variety of seating options inside, at the front and in the courtyard. The food was excellent, with an extensive menu (menus are avalable in English), an excellent wine list of German wines and, of course, beer.

very dedicated cook... very good special food, menues and a la carde. prices are high but worth it. Situated quite "in the woods".... but you won´t regret the voyage. The cook also knows how to decorate the food, so the eyes get also something to see.

Stopped in here for lunch because we were looking for the Arcobräu Schloss Dunkel and it was a holiday weekend when we weren't sure what would be open. We received a friendly welcome, a beer and the menu, which was surprisingly hard to choose from. Decided on the Rindsbacken mit Senf-Meerrettichkruste and the fish platter with three kinds of fish, potatoes and asparagus. Both were served in a timely manner with a smile and delicious.

This was our second visit to this restaurant at the historic town square in Deggendorf. In summer there is a large terrace at the town square and on a Saturday the farmer's market was just opposite complete with a cultural performance. Service is polite, fast and professional. We had the Duett of Donauwaller & Salmon and the Gnocchi with Mushrooms and parmesan. The portions were generous and the food was very tasty. Highly recommended restaurant in Deggendorf for all occasions.

Das Restaurant Liebl liegt schräg gegenüber dem Bahnhof Plattling und ist damit sehr gut zu erreichen. Die Küche ist bayrisch, nimmt aber durchaus ein paar internationale Aspekte auf - ohne dass es jedoch schräg wird. Ich hatte einen Rahmbraten vom Kalb, der sehr lecker war. Service war freundlich und schnell. Von daher sehr empfehlenswert.
