Hired bikes ( a must) from a hotel on opposite side of lake and came across the Seebar - a great locaton on the lake. Worth detouring for lunch.

To be fair, Strandcafe has a nice location overlooking the lake and bathing area. The food quality is very poor. Prices are expensive. The chicken in the chicken salad plate was made out of "formed" type of meat with no texture and put on Chinese style skewers. The taste was so bad if I had no ordered it, I would not have known what it was I was eating. The lettuce was okay. Quality of tomatoes and other items was very poor. We have had fabulous produce throughout Germany and this was very poor quality. Water was 4.8 euro. The ice cream was 4.6 euro and was also pretty tasteless. All in all it seemed inferior products used. Waitress was fine. Location is really nice. They added service fee and the cost of a salad, water and ice cream was 21.80 euros and it was not a good experience.

I like going here for breakfast on the weekends. It has a FABULOUS view of the lake and mountains and it's got a nice, quiet atmosphere with friendly staff! They have a 2 page breakfast menu and I have to recommend the Jamaican and Asian breakfasts...plenty of food and a reasonable price! :) They also have an English menu! :)

Even if it was closed, the friendly staff opened up the inside of the restaurant for us only, since it was completely crowded outside due to the nice weather.The wienerschnitzel was excellent and so was the weissbier. Everything about this place screams Bavaria. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the people in it. If you're up for an authentic Bavarian experience this restaurant is the place to be. Although the service was a bit slow at times, the food and atmosphere made up for it.

This is an elegant white-table cloth restaurant, very relaxing and good for conversation. We had good meals -- the Wiener Schnitzel was good and the whitefish on spinach excellent. Wines good, service good. We enjoyed it. The only reason I don't give it an excellent is that we found the menu so limited. Well worth a visit.

It is a deli, but well done, with all the deli stuff you could imagine, plus the high end grocery store / restaurant bits. The meats and sausages are very good, the prices of course fit the quality, and do not forget that you are in Starnberg one of the most expensive places on this earth. Plus it has that sort of local feel, that is difficult to find today. You can have a brilliant lunch here, and it is excellent for beverages (wine) as well. Go in on Saturday for lunch and get a bit tipsy on their open wines. Be careful they have all of those things that you end up buying that you do not need, but buy any way and then ask yourself 2 years later why did I buy that.

We had a great dinner with a small group of friends here. The menu is limited, but creative and all the dishes we had were excellent. The atmosphere is cozy, and the owners are welcoming and very friendly. This place is clearly not on the radar yet as it was not very full on a weekend evening. This is easily one of the top restaurants around, and we will be returning soon.

My wife and I have eaten in this restaurant 5 times in the past year. While we enjoyed our first 2-3 dining experiences, which kept us coming back, the cuisine is now simply amazing. The current menu degustation is incredibly innovative, combining rarely seen, fresh herbs with outstanding local ingredients to deliver an exceptional gourmet experience. I normally don't try to compare restaurants, but we recently had an 8-course menu at one of Barcelona's Michelin 2-star restaurants, and our menu at Aubergine was every bit as good if not better - at less than half price. This restaurant is for serious gourmets, and it's still a bargain.
