Not informed about increadibly loud wedding
Reviewed By jv6051We stayed here in September 2021 for 2 nights. The hotel is very nicely renovated, as well as the park around it. The food at the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast could have been a bit more extended given that it is a 4 star hotel. Our main problem with this place is that there was a wedding taking place the second evening we stayed there. We were not informed about this in advance. Due to the layout of the hotel, with the wedding taking place in the covered courtyard, and all rooms surround the courtyard, it was impossible to sleep until the wedding party was finally over. The staff did little to help us, apart from argue for a good 15 min that it isn't possible we were not informed. (After going through our booking they eventually concluded that we were indeed not informed). If I spend this much on a hotel, I expect a decent night rest. If you can't guarantee that, then don't rent out rooms when you have a party or wedding!

Reviewed By Thomas BGood enough breakfast, reasonable pricing and accommodating staff to large family with small children = thanks again Martina! VG is a 200 M walk close to the Patty ski school whom did an excellent job teaching our small children (5 & 3) to ski and have some fun while doing so.

Reviewed By ritavaczWe just stayed a night after a conference nearby, but it was very good surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful. We tried the sauna and the swimming pool as well. The breakfast was delicious. There was already snow so the vista was beautiful.

Third and most probably last visit
Reviewed By KristiDrThis was our third visit in last 6years. We like atmosphere of Banska Stiavnica a lot and this hotel was our repeated option due to previous good experiences. Accomodation is perfect, rooms are nice and clean, but the quality of restaurant and bar declined. A la carte menu was significantly reduced, offering only few meals really. and also the service was not sufficient (really too long waiting times, also waiting for clean table be ready, etc.). The stuff is friendly and doing their best I believe, but some of them were obviously not experienced and generally, more of them would be needed. One explained that reduced menu is consequence of covid19 pandemic due to which they are suffering from lack of qualified chefs and waiters… which is a shame. I do not think I would reconsider to come back.

It forms part of a long history of a village Donovaly, which has now become a well-known ski resort. Hotel offers great services, new restaurant and lobby bar area, brand new modern congress room, beautiful wellness with massages, saunas, large and small swimming pool and fitness centre. New rooms and Family Suits are ideal for families with kids. All rooms are after large reconstruction and are now equipped with new wooden furniture, Wi-Fi and TV with satellite. Our mountain hotel is an ideal place to relax for everyone who enjoys beautiful nature of Low Tatras. Our guests can make use of multifunction playground, and the largest kids playground in front of the hotel. The hotel is the first and eldest hotel in the village Donovaly. First opening dates back to 1938 after two years of intensive works. Loads of historical episodes in Slovak history have taken place here. Sport Hotel*** has been reconstructed numerous times and the last and largest reconstruction had taken place in 2015. In April 2016 we have opened the historical door of our hotel once again.
Small rooms
Reviewed By SkiholidaysLI have mixed views about this hotel, some aspects were excellent but others poor for example the play room for my three children aged 8, 5 and 3 along with the all day and night entertainment was excellent (has to be parent supervised). Parents can enjoy a quiet drink while kids are entertained. However, the room was very disappointing, we found a travel cot along with the two beds and so had to pinch a bed from our friends room for our 3year old which then left only a very small walkway through to our double bedroom. The bathroom was tiny and could only be accessed through the kids room. Not comfortable for a weeks stay with a family of 5 and lots of ski wear. The cleaners didn't even make the beds or change the glasses some days. On the plus side the food for the adults was on the whole very good, but the choice for children at dinner was poor, all 4 children lived on bread, rice, sweetcorn and pudding for a week! The pools were also great for the kids. It didn't help that the much bragged about kindergarten at Patty ski was closed, we still don't know why as there were a few runs open and there was snow so we had to spend more time in the hotel looking after the two smaller children.

All Guys taking care about us were everytime full of smile providing best service not as a job but out of their heart full of love. I am vegan and they made such an amazing “job” I cant described it by the words. Even for our “Christmas dinner” on 12/12/2020 the evening before departure to Canada they made a vegan style of typical Slovak Christmas dinner same style our Team had just cabbage soup with soya sausage insted meat and fried soya steak replaces fried alasca fish (actually it was very similar taste as I do remember from many years ago). If you would like have such a Wonderful experience I can recommend to visite this place only. ❤️❤️❤️????????

A nice surprise
Reviewed By Shane CThis little Guest House is very well located and easy to find. The lovely Landlady made us feel very welcome and we really had a good time. The outdoor patio was enjoyable in the evening and the breakfast was really nice. It's a pity we were here on Sunday when the restaurant and wine cellar were closed?. The rooms were spacious and well furnished . You're not going to get any better value for your money anywhere in the area ! Recommended !!

The room was cozy and inviting. If you’re in the area this hotel is a good choice. Free wifi and the mini bar was included. The mini bar had 1 small Prosecco, a local beer and a bottle of water.
