We visited this restaurant during a lunch time and pleased we found this traditional Greek Taverna with a great selection of Greek dishes. The view from this Taverna is stunning and it's located just outside of Bali as you head towards Rethymon on the left hand side about 1/2 mile past the Bali turning

Ordered oven baked feta as starter and grilled octopus and calamari a mains.
Great fresh tasting plates with all the vegetables having lots of taste.
Good service very friendly staff my wife was cold and they gave here a blanket
We were offered some watermelon with the bill.

Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor and seeing that this place is rated number 1, the wife and I had to visit.
Tried to reserve a table but was told they don't do Reservations and was advised that after 8pm we would be unlikely to get a table.
We arrived around 7.30 and there were plenty of tables, the restaurant filled up but there were still a few tables available when we left around 9pm.
Lovely setting in its own private bay.
I had the fried cheese to start and it was amazing.
The wife again went for the grilled Feta cheese and really enjoyed it.
For main I again went for the Mussel Saganaki, it was really tasty.
The wife had fillet steak in garlic sauce, my God, this was simply amazing, it fell apart when stabbed with a fork and melted in the mouth! No knife required. Highly recommend.
We had a €15 bottle of wine and the meal came to around €50.
Served the usual breads and a jug of the best ice cold Raki I've had during my stay. Also served a selection of fruit, the grapes were superb.
Can see why they are rated number 1.

I was curious about this raised restaurant and then disappointed. We were the only customers at the time and service was disjointed and sloppy. The task being deligated to the children of the family who althgough tried there best needed some help from the owners /parents who were busy sitting smoking and chatting. The decor is tatty and ramshackle, the view is of the car park. The food was just about okay although the limp soggy chips needed some help but the roast pork and the small octopus salad were reasonable. Anice free dessert was the best part of the meal but things got worse when a local cat came and sprayed on the table next door. The Family Taverna Nest Staff were too busy smoking to notice or care.

I had a late breakfast here, extremely friendly staff, excellent food and a nice view of the beach. I went for the toasted Sandwich which came with a large portion of tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce covered in delicious local olive oil. The mixed fruit (6 fruits) juice and Greek coffee were excellent too.

We visited as we were staying quite near in Bali. The ambience is great with gourds hanging overhead and overlooking the pool. We shared starters of fried zucchini , olives and tzatziki which were all very good. We had a range of mains which were all ver flavoursome and much appreciated. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff attentive. Would recommend

Continuing our Cretan adventure, the wife and I decided to eat here last night. We were a little underwhelmed to be honest.
I went for the Creamy Mushrooms to start, it was bland and had little or no seasoning. The wife had croquettes which she really enjoyed.
For main I had Moussaka which again was bland, with little if any seasoning and unusually for a Cretan Taverna no noticeable herbs.
The wife had Pistachio for main which, she also found bland and unseasoned. In fact they had the same dish for lunch today at our all inclusive resort which she much preferred. It's sad to say that the croquettes apart the bread and side of chips were our favourite part of the meal(they were delicious). Service was friendly and the bay setting idyllic. Maybe they were just having an off evening. But out of the three Tavernas we've eaten in so far this was the worst.

We remembered this restaurant from a previous visit to Bali and went again on our first night. Food was great. Vine leaves and saganaki followed by Cretan chicken fillet, mixed Greek plate and sword fish. All good.
Great setting overlooking the bay with the path running through it. Very unusual. Service wasn't speedy but not to the point of it being a problem.

We stayed 13 days in Bali and we tried all tavernas around. We preferred Taverna Petrino for the service and the food. Costas can speak French, English, Italian, German, English and Greek! He would every day make us discover new food fresh and delicious. We would brunch here, a good omelette and dine here after having the dinner on their private beach area for only 5€ for the day! Prices are very reasonable and look at the photos ! Thanks to Mickel and the barman Thanos too

Positives:
1) Fresh affordable fish everyday
2) Antoni and his family (Manoli, Maria and Athena) are the epitome of Cretan hospitality - there is nothing they won't do to make your stay unforgettable
3) Their home cooked meals are made from the freshest ingredients
4) The beach is well kept, and the secret of Bali. There may be wind on the other Beaches in Crete, but not on Evita bay
5) There is always a good story to be to,d by one of the family members
6) The bill does not choke you
7) Does NOT take advantage of tourists
8) Can make a friend for life, they speak all major languages
9) Accommodate children and infant, and always make the little ones comfortable and calm
Negatives:
1) Difficult to find, therefore a gem
2) Parking is tight, however worth the effort and once you learn the road and parking, it's worth a visit
