This restaurant is very charming and cozy with a large fireplace in the middle of the dining room. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and efficient. (All the women wear dirndls, very cute)The menu is varied with fish, meats (including some wild game), and vegetarian. The wine list is also quite extensive. We were happy with our dishes, except the steaks were a bit on the cool side. Otherwise, I would have given this restaurant an excellent. Thanks for the positive review. I don't know why I have not written a report on this wonderful Uberlingen institution before. I have visited the restaurant many, many times!!If you want traditional German hospitality combined with excellent, cooked just for you food then this is the place. Many locals eat here, the price being very fair plus great portion sizes. The chef/owner makes fresh potato rosti and then places a variety of superb ingredients on top. Such as, Pork, Steak, Fish, Vegetables plus also offering other home made dishes.Maybe I have not reported before because I would like to keep the place all to myself - but there you go, I've done it now. Hope I can still get in!!

One negative thing about this hotel/restaurant is the fact that one can not pay with EC-cards other than German EC-cards....is this Europe?? The first time I had not that many cash with me; only cash was accepted...no European EC-cards, no VISA...The two experiences (lunches) we had here were great and tasteful; nice to sit there on a hot day, as it was last weeks. The service is excellent, the food is very well. The 'Kuchen' they served were the best (and most fresh) we have ever tasted and the lunch meals were of very good quality, too. The view is excellent, you can see the mountains with snow in Switserland as well. The restaurant is a meeting point for travellers and bikers, some routes lead to this hill. Great location!

Had coffee and cocktails on the lovely terrace after a long and difficult day. The view of Lake Constance is great, the coffee good and the Hugos were just what the doctor ordered. Would definitely rate a re-visit when in the area.

We actually went here because of the trip advisor reviews. They were all excellent but all in German. We only speak English. Don't expect an English menu but the owner will help you out with translation. Seemed to be full of local people. Food was fantastic and maybe of German style. In a beautiful old building. We ate outside on the street. Really enjoyed ourselves.

Parking lot directly across the street. Nicely appointed locals restaurant with outdoor dining available. Service was over the top perfect. Servers all spoke english and had english menus. Great menu selections. Bratwurst was excellent, Wild Gulasch was authentic and portion was large. Wurstsalat was HUGE even small portion and so good!!! Love this place. Excellent value.

Unfortunately we had been there only for coffee and cake - however, it's a nice place to be there. Certainly a restaurant to visit - otherwise you will miss something. Great location - near the harbor. Nice decoration, great food (especially the cakes) and very friendly service.

Inside and outside seating is available. Our granddaughter chose to sit inside because she found the candle lit tables romantic. Food and wine were top quality and delicious. Service is personal and effcient. These are large portions and you may want to share. Due to the intimate setting, reservations are recommended. This family run restaurant is a special find.
