We visited in December and had the 12 course taster menu, although not advertised they also paired up accompanying wines with each course.The restaurant is family run, and the son of the founder is now the head chef with his wife running front of house.The decor and ambience inside is very warm, modern and welcoming, with the Christmas decorations an additional treat.Service is discrete and despite the language barrier with our limited French we worked out what each course was.The bread rolls were part of the initial table decorations and each course had a well balanced set of flavours and textures - the turbot risotto though stood out as our favourite.Be prepared for 4 dessert courses so a sweet tooth is required, although I didn't feel that I was going to burst so the portions were very good.As an added bonus the head chef took us back to our accommodation as well rather than have us call a taxi so fantastic service all around.

Hot on the heels of dining at Au Crocodile in Strasbourg, we booked a table at JY's in Colmar, a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Our two experiences couldn't have been more different. Our meal at JY'S was very disappointing in every way, the service was offhand and at times, rude and dismissive. The food was underwhelming, it was confused and struggled unsuccessfully to introduce Asian flavours to classic French dishes. You don't produce a satay sauce by simply adding coconut milk to a brown sauce, made properly, it is a complex and subtle accompaniment to food. In terms of being a starred restaurant, this one just doesn't come close, there is nothing special about it except for the inflated prices. I did contact the chef to express my disappointment, but didn't receive a response and having regard to the chef's responses to other reviews, his arrogance comes across loud and clear. Skip it, it is a poor reflection of Michelin starred restaurants and of the standard of other places in Colmar.To one who is very brave and who hides behind a screen.Of one I could not answer you because you already wrote on Google (impossible to answer) and on the other hand it is difficult for me not to answer to ignorant people and who are taken for gastronomic critics whereas they themselves are not even able to cook an egg.The proof of your ignorance the basis of the satay sauce is not the coconut milk but the peanuts !!!What right do I have the right to insult myself and my employees?We are in a democracy and everyone has the right to answer, it is not arrogance but simply common senseWith my best regards.Jean-Yves Schillinger

The best Italian food outside of Italy, Maria and her staff are wonderful and very attentive. The ambience is light and refreshing. Crystal glasses on the all of the tables and Roman columns around the room. Food presentation that you eat with you eyes first and then the delicious el dente pasta with sauce. I had the spaghetti, shrimp and aubergine pasta, friends had bolognese and a pizza, all were very tasty. A time to practise your Italian, mange bene, viva bene!

The place is a combined gourmet shop and lunch place. We stopped when they just opened to buy some ham we booked lunch at the same time. The restaurant is on 1. Floor. The lunch was great, especially the cheeses. A very good place to have lunch.

After a long day at EuropaPark, the kids were tired and we wanted to have dinner near our apartment. The Apollon restaurant was not full, there were empty tables but a senior staff with long greasy hair simple dismissed my request for orders and said "we are full". This is small, cosy restaurant with a very interesting menu and friendly, efficient service. One of the best in Colmar, among lots of more touristy places.You come for lunch or for dinner and they receive you like a long lost friend. Everything on the menu is delicious, real "homecooking".Since it is small, it is best to reserve beforehand.

Can not fault this exceptional experience. Food service ambience all 10/10. The chef helped serve our meal and was an unassuming man who made a great effort to speak to us in English. We were uncertain when booking this for a birthday celebration whether a restaurant in a theme park could really be worth 2 Michelin stars. Happily it was well worth it. The restaurant decor is very interesting and a luxurious contrast to the hotel in which it is located. Food was excellent and service good. Wine list had some great choices and the sommelier was excellent.

The welcome was charming, the cocktails overlooking the river quite magical, and the service is faultless. What lets lâAuberge de lâll Down is, sadly, the food. Amuses bouches of smoked eel (one of our party loathes eel) and a mini croque monsieur? The menu itself offers almost nothing light and fresh. Yes, it does reference typical dishes and flavors of the region, but it all feels a bit âdatedâ and a bit heavy. The cheeseboard was magnificent, quite the best course of the meal.

From the outside the restaurant does not look incredibly inviting. However the interior does not look like much either. Why go here? Go for the food and the friendly down to earth honest service. This restaurant has a heart and a soul. A good menu everything is cooked from scratch. The staff is extremely well trained. Personal wishes are fulfilled. This time I enjoyed the wild garlic (Bärlauch) maultaschen. Delicious and well made. he wild garlic soup was good perphas a little less salt for my tasting but all together this was really good.
