The Māori call Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau — a maiden desired by 100 lovers, and a valuable territory fought over for centuries for its fertile land and natural harbors on the Pacific Ocean (to the east) and Tasman Sea (to the west). Today, it’s New Zealand’s largest city: A vibrant and diverse place where nature and urban life go hand-in- hand, with 48 volcanic cones, more than 50 islands, and 29,000 km of coastline and beaches just minutes away from the arts and shopping of the central city.

Stayed here 2 nights. On closer inspection room was a bit dusty and looked like it hadnt been dusted in a while.floor didnt look clean either..could of been stains engrained in the tiles but disnt look clean at all. The pool photos do not match the pictures, water was cloudy and green and the sides of the pool were very dirty, put me off going in.dont get me wrong it was a nice enough chalet with a microwave and kitchenette but for 340 a night a bit over priced in my opinion. On arrival owner didnt say much..just that I should turn air con on when I get into room. There was no brush or Hoover to sweep the floor so couldnt tidy that up.

I can’t recommend this place strongly enough… I was due to arrive from Australia in March 2020 and with ever changing COVID restrictions, I managed to secure a studio 2days before arriving to self-isolate in for 14days. Casey and Juan were sooo helpful organising my stay and the staff were fantastic!! Even ringing my room to check up on me every second day. I had an amazing view, exceptionally clean room, fantastic delivery and room service. Everything I needed was supplied including washing machine and dryer!! The 14 days flew by and I thoroughly enjoyed my isolation period. Thankyou to you all for an amazing time ???

Needs some improvements

This is a house in a neighborhood. There was no “seaview” that we could see, neither from the back porch or our room, which faced the street. The kitchen is shared, there are cooking supplies to make your own food and some items like milk and eggs are supplied in the fridge. They need to replace the hairdryer. It is so low voltage that it is of no use. 1000 watts is nothing. I could not dry my hair, it was so weak with air flow. Very disappointing, as I have short hair and had to wear a hat all day that day. Also, the bathroom floor had many strands of long black hair all over. This caused me to wonder if the place had been cleaned from the last visitors. The wood patio furniture had large cobwebs all over the pieces. Not very welcoming. Also, the cushions on the other outdoor furniture need to be cleaned. We spent considerable time getting dirt and dust off to have a sit. Finally, we were in the front of the house, ground floor. Two people parked on grass right in front of our window, shining their bright lights into our room at night. This happened twice. And since the window has no sheers for privacy, we had to keep the heavy drapes closed to get dressed in the morning and it was quite dark in the room. They need to consider adding some sheer curtains to that window for privacy. We were not aware people would be parking on the grass. We were not sure where to park, they might add that information to their email instructions. We parked on the street, someone was already taking up the whole driveway and we weren’t aware of the grass being an option. We were disappointed in these things at this property. We will most likely stay elsewhere next time.

Modern, comfortable and ideally located

We loved our 3 day stay at Cable Bay views. The location worked really well for us - we brought our car over on the ferry, but actually for people who enjoy a walk, you can walk up from the Matiatia ferry in about half an hour (head for Cable Bay vineyard first then around the roadside to Cable Bay Views). And as you can tell from this, the whare is also (a short) walking distance from two close-by wineries - Cable Bay and Mudbrick - both of which do lunch and evening meals. Mudbrick also does breakfast 9-11am - on a fine day, breakfast out on the terraces at Mudbrick with views across the sea to Rangitoto and the Auckland CBD is something very special. And if you stay at Cable Bay Views, you even have the option of doing this every day. We stayed in Unit 2, the central unit in a terrace of lovely modern whare with their backs to the road (lined with attractive tropical plantings) and front sides looking out across greenery to Cable Bay winery. A full length deck runs right along the front side with doors opening on to it - a great space for sitting outdoors with a book, and especially for relaxing in the evening when it is cooler. There is a small kitchen area (fridge and microwave), couch, small table with chairs and large, comfortable bed. Quite a few extras - I especially loved the lovely toiletries: body and hand wash, shampoo and conditioner plus handcream all by great New Zealand brand Ashley and co. There is no plunger but a coffee machine with pods (not so easy to find pods on the island so if this is your thing, and you are going to stay more than a night, consider bringing your own). Also only two mugs and two glasses so you may like to bring a few of your own. For example, we began by using one glass for our toothbrushes then realised there weren’t any to drink from. Hairdryer, iron and board, even an umbrella. And the highlight for me - Sky Sport! As a cricket fan I was thrilled to be able to not only watch New Zealand beat India, but to be able to tape the match while we were out enjoying Waiheke to finish watching later. Ka mau te wehi! Quiet and easy (key in lockbox when you arrive), this is an ideal place for independent travellers to enjoy a relaxing break.
