Migunga Tented Camp

A shabby disappointment

Reviewed By janpyesafari

The setting is described as ‘set in an acacia forest’; this is absolutely not the case, and one hears the nearby ever growing town & its disco from ones tent. The staff are really helpful & one feels sorry for them not having a budget to keep the camp up to a better standard. The food was rather poor (a more experienced cook needed) & dishes just not tasty. However making up our own picnic lunch was a success. The beds are beautifully decorated with good linen & pillows, but this is a most basic camp needing a helping hand.

Ngorongoro Wildcamp is a very well run luxury camp. We had a truly fantastic two days in this picture perfect camp. Everyithing was much better than we expected; the raised canvas rooms with amazing views, delicious meals served, evening bonfire, the afternoon walks with armed Maasai guards. It was just as paradise should be. It was really good value and I would not hesitate to return or recommend to my family and friends.

This place is great!

Joel organized me a package with everything including transportation. I didn’t want to pay for private since I was alone. Tell him to book you in the public car instead of the bus that I took on the way over that was insane, unless you really wanted an authentic experience. My guide was great and everything is coordinated through the hotel that includes meals as well. Rooms are very spacious. Internet works sometimes usually at night in the restaurant, so you kind of have to be ok with the possibility of being disconnected. Keep in mind that there are many taxes and fees to visit this place, so the hotel doesn’t really charge that much. Also, the red lake natron is a rare phenomenon, but you can always see the flamingos. Do the upper waterfall hike it’s incredible, but you need to be in quite decent physical conditions.

We stayed there for one night. The tent was clean and comfortable and the staff were amazing. The chef was very accommodating of my diet preference. You can’t charge your appliances in the tent but there is a charging station in the dining tent where WiFi is also available. Would definitely recommend.

It's cold in Africa!

Reviewed By SebastianMasvidal

Camp with an amazing view over the crater, the staff is friendly and helpful, the food was also surprisingly good and filling. The surprise was that they literally poor hot water manually in the shower but i guess it's understandable considering the remote location. The rooms are nothing special but the hot water bottle in bed at night was amazing as it was very very cold. We chilled around the fire, drank some whiskey and had a nice chat with the other guests , and ofc the huge waterbuffalo that came strolling throughout the camp at night. 1-2 nights is more than enough for the crater and would not recommend staying more.

A must-stay venue in Tarangire!

The Honeyguide experience in Tarangire was amazing; the hospitality was top-notch, service was impeccable, and the staff was extremely nice and attentive. To be fair to prospective residents of the Honeyguide Camp, this is definitely *glamping*… very, very nice tent accommodations, but still *tents*; but, for me (and my wife), this is the absolute best way to experience Tanzania. And, finally, the food… wow… they seriously outdid themselves with an incredible series of meals, from dawn to dusk. Would HIGHLY recommend Honeyguide to anybody that finds themselves in the Tarangire area!
