I stayed there 1 night. Hotel is located in town Andalsness. In the town is nothing interesting to see, but country-side around is excelent. We arrived there from pass Trollstigen and continued through valley Romsdalen to Dombás. Very interesting view ( it´s depend on the weather) from these route is Trollwegen, 1800 m high mountain wall, is considered as the highest verticall climbing wall in Europe. From the hotel is very close to centre of this little town.

We had booked an organised tour of the troll valley and the stop here for lunch was part of it.
Very plentiful although the queues were fairly lengthy. Slightly confused by the drinks on the table as to whether they were complimentary or not. They were.
I think it an ideal place to stop at

It's an italian / turkish restaurant.
Inside it looks quite cosy and the restaurant is quite big.
I took a pasta (normal spaghetti bolognaise) and it was absolutely not special.
So what can I say, the options in Andalsnes in winter time are not much, this is one option, try it, don't expect too much and it will be ok

China House

Chinese restaurant in the core of Andalsnes with a big and varied menu. Here you can enjoy all the traditional chinese dishes, from fried noodles to chop suey. You can also choose something more exclusive, our well known sushi, made with fresh fish of the day. Everything enjoyed in a beautiful atmosphere, with a view to the Romsdalfjord and the montains surrounding it.

So everyone said that Thai/Chinese/Asian was a good way to go in Norway when other options were limited. We were there the night before a much anticipated Romsdalesegen hike, and this place was hopping - it was actually hard to get a table. The menu was some crazy pan-Asian funk fest. The service was super friendly. The décor is crazy - decades ago. But basically clean. I got the red curry with chicken, and my wife got the chicken with cashews. So the food was fine, but it all came out in a funny order (starters last, one kids' food first and there other last) and everything was super soupy/saucy. I think it might have been an MSG festival it was so spicy. But it was kind of throwback fun. I can't really decide what I thought about it... So hence the three stars. The next time I find myself in this small town, and I'm in the mood for some seriously old school Chinese food, I'll be there in a hot second. I can't say it was great, but it was definitely memorable and I did kind of like it.

Our visit to this restaurant started well, with friendly staff helping with meal information.
The chicken meal was slightly undercooked but not bad enough to send it back. A nice piece of fish was presented in a pool of oil.
The meal sizes were good.
When the bill arrived we noticed the wine was higher than the wine list price. I queried this and was told we had been given last year's wine list by mistake. The price difference was not great but the staff attitude was that I should have asked for this year's list.
I don't understand how in August they are still using last year's list and charging this year's prices. This reflects poorly on the standards of this restaurant.

We were on a coach tour of the Romsdal Valley from Andalsnes for a full afternoon.
Our driver stopped for a comfort break and we went in search of more yummy Cona coffee. 40Kr (£4.00) for two cups - fantastic. I like Demerara sugar in my coffee but throughout Norway I only ever saw large sachets of white sugar. The coffee was gorgeous.
We also had a plate of waffles with cream and raspberry jam which were light and crispy and very tasty. I recommend them.
The Centrum cafe was very pleasant; clean; neat & tidy with smiling staff who seemed genuinely pleased to welcome us.
It was here we saw our first Sami person. This was an elderly gentleman wearing traditional Sami clothing: a woollen woven shawl in bright colours - blue and red dominant, and a round hat with upright sides about 5" (12cm) high in red and blue with narrow yellow ribbons. I decided to say "Hello!" to him. He turned and smiled and very patiently listened as I attempted to engage him in simple conversation. Learn from my mistake please! The gentleman smiled and said, "Please do not worry for I speak good English." He certainly did. We had a brief but pleasant chat with him then bade him farewell.
Enjoyable visit to Centrum Cafe

The atmosphere of this establishment is more cafeteria than restaurant, but the fantastic view of the fjord and surrounding Mountains through the panoramic windows and the large outdoor area more than make up for it. The menu was confusing at first; part buffet, part pamphlet, part written on the walls, but once this was sorted with a short explanation from the lovely staff I was set. Their homemade burger with local blue cheese was fantastic, savoury and tasty. The coffee was also good. The more exclusive ala carte dishes was a bit high-budget, but other options were very affordable.

Bakgarden Thai

Reviewed By ErikandSandya - Colombo, Sri Lanka

Okay it's Thai. Location close to port/bus/train station, in some backyard corner behind the shops. Food totally budget-level, not too tasty, but charged full price of a serious restaurant (around 200 kroner for a mains). Avoid it, only worth half of this level; for this price quality Thai or other food from e.g. an Oslo restaurant can be expected, not this budget dump.
