Very good hotel with an excellent cuisine
Reviewed By johannes0692This hotel has a good service-level. The Rooms are different: Very comfortabel, modern and with a bit exquisite atmospher and other room just functional, clean and good. It depends on what you book. Take the "Full-Pension"-offering. The Dinner is really exquisite in comparison to the price.

Reviewed By benoitemielWe booked a 4day stay in Hotel Zur Post. Our room and bathroom was clean and tidy but really outdated. The room was located on the streetside and was really hot due to the weather. Opening a window was not a good idea since there was a lot of traffic noise, starting at 6am. Breakfast was really basic and missed some mandatory pastries, not even on sunday. But most of all we are very surprised with the unfriendly staff. The first morning I was yelled (!) at for not taking the right way to the breakfast-buffet. Lady at the reception was annoyed very time we had a simple question, like "can we gave a plastic bag?".

This family-run hotel offers free wifi in the entire property and free parking. It is set in Altenahr in the picturesque Ahrtal valley, 50 metres from the train station and directly on the Ahr bike path. Rooms at the Hotel Lang are located either in the main building or in one of the 2 guest houses situated opposite the main building. A rich breakfast buffet, including specialty coffees, is provided each morning. During the summer, drinks and cakes can be enjoyed on the terrace. All guests at Hotel Lang receive a public transport ticket allowing free travel on buses and trains throughout the entire VRM network. Guests can make use of the many hiking and cycling trails around Ahrtal to enjoy the scenic surroundings. Use of the local swimming pool are free of charge for guests of the Hotel Lang.

The friendly nearby bike rental at 150 Meter is what makes the stay in the hotel dubbel pleasant since you can bike the 35 km wine track towards the Rhein and come back to Altenahr by train since hotel LANG provides guests with a public transport card

Beautiful, newly remodeled room
Reviewed By GrunerVeltinerOur studio was beautiful and newly remodeled, with three beds in a loft. Our young daughter got a great night's sleep thanks to automated rolladen covering the skylight and good curtains (a rarity in German hotels). Proprietor was friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit of a Tetris game, getting in and out of a few tight spots in the garage across the street and in the courtyard of the building, but it worked. Breakfast buffet was on the minimal end, but adequate. We didn't eat in the restaurant (few vegetarian options), but it's outdoor seating was full each night. Easy walking distance to the castle and the train station. Beware - it's cash only.

Excellent hotel in Altenahr
Reviewed By Charles CI had been planning my hike of the Rotweinwanderweg for two years and concluded the best part was from Altenahr to Ahrweiler, so decided to stay in Altenahr and made reservations for two nights at Gasthaus Assenmacher. I arrived around noon and was greeted warmly by Christa Storch, co-owner with husband Christian (she allowed me to check in early). I asked her if there was a good local hike in Altenahr for the rest of the day and she highly recommended the Ahrschleife bei Altenahr (Ahr Loop in Altenahr). Please see my TA review on this. It was wonderful. I had a tasty lunch before I left and was looking forward to a nice dinner in their fine restaurant. I was not disaapointed. I had a local white fish with a cream sauce and the smoothest and tastiest mashed potatoes I had ever had. Plus several glasses of local Spätburgunder. The meal was so good, I ate here the second night and had the exact same thing! Great experience. Room was quite nice

Good for a night's sleep travelling to the races at the Nürburgring
Reviewed By Leon ZThis hotel is located on the road 257 from Bonn/A1 Autobahn to the Nürburgring. Situated just before Altenahr in a corner of the road and a bit lower next to the mountain descent slide track. The hotel has a large car park and stairs lead to the floor with the reception. The rooms are another floor higher. The reception person is not always there but you get a room key with also access to the front door. They also sell drinks from the refrigerator and you note your name on a piece of paper with what you took out of the fridge. There is no food service (except breakfast) so it is a good idea to drive to the center of Altenahr where quite a few restaurants are available. Rooms in the hotel are simple but spacious and everything what you need is there. Beds are comfy and the road noise is virtually non-existent. Besides the prices were very moderate so I can still recommend this place if you are travelling in the area without the need for luxury.

De gastvrouw is charmant en heel vriendelijk. Het ontbijt was uitstekend en komend jaar gaan we zeker terug komen.

No warm water and an original room from the 1970s
Reviewed By Curver007The only thing changed In the room since the 70s was the TV, and the shower only had cold water. The bathroom would have had a bad standard in 70s and featured a shower with only cold water, we were a group visiting the nürburgring and had a total of nearly 10 rooms, none of them had warm water. No air-conditioning. All in all a bad experience.
